Such awful news….
My mom worked for Kenny when my dad was coaching at Murray State
Kenny was at Louisville by the time my dad took the Virginia Tech job. VT & Louisville were in the Metro Conference together so every year when they came to town Kenny would invite us to the shoot around the night before the game
I got to meet people like Pervis Ellison, LaBradford Smith and Denny Crum…. What a thrill for a kid to meet those stars
Last year I came to NY and spent 2 days w Coach Pitino & the team. Kenny & I hadn’t seen each other in a long time but immediately reconnected
My last interaction was him coming to get me out of the stands at MSG and taking me back in the St John’s locker room to hear Coach Pitino’s speech before the game
He had a way of making everyone he came in contact w feel so special like he did for me … as a little kid in Murray KY and as an adult last year in NY
🙏
Gilbert Arenas on why he hated playing Dwyane Wade
"I hated playing against him. After the 2004 Olympics, coming into the 2004-05 season, everybody was talking about the Heat. Shaq went over there and I said, 'We'll just treat D-Wade like they did in the Olympics, just play him off the ball.' Didn't think nothing of it."
"Then I'm looking at the scoreboards and Miami is coming close. D-Wade is putting up 40, 45, 45. I called the hotel. 'Hey, is this Dwyane? Hey man, this is Gil. That stuff I said a couple weeks ago, I don't know if you saw it.' Just to let you know, you know, trying to smooth it over."
"I don't know if that phone call helped because he did not look like it helped. At halftime Larry Hughes looks at me and says, 'If you're going to talk about players, you guard them. Because what he's doing out there to you, he's taking it personal.' That was the last time I ever said anything about a player."
"There's nothing better than seeing your child realize their dream"
Daune Conwell is one proud mom after watching her son, Ryan Conwell, get selected in the second round of the NBA Draft. 🏀

Ok one more. I’ve never shown this video of Kenny Klein before but just found it.
Baha Bullies. I had been on job maybe two weeks?
Was filming players going down and then next thing I know here comes KK.
But the best part is him pulling shades and a hat out of his shorts 🤣
A couple hours after Coach took this picture on the day we beat Kansas to punch our ticket to the Sweet 16, we drove to the aiport on three team buses.
I was on the same bus as Kenny and much of the team's support staff. At the aiport, we got word there would be a substantial delay before we could board the plane.
After hearing this news, Kenny cracked a joke about Ed Kull that had our entire bus laughing. He then admitted he may have had a bourbon or two to celebrate the win.
And then Kenny accomplished a modern miracle.
He got every one us to put our phones away as he walked the length of our bus, telling stories about each member of the support staff and the unique contribution they made to the team. It was a Hall of Fame performance filled with humor, warmth, and heart.
Kenny had a tremendous impact on everyone whose life he touched during his two seasons at St. John's. I'm grateful that I was one of them.
Rest in peace, my friend.
