Maccabi ist kein normaler Verein. Zu Maccabi Tel Avivs Fangesängen gehören: „Araber töten!” sowie „Es gibt keine Kinder mehr in Gaza” und „Wir vergewaltigen eure Mädchen”

Maccabi wurde 1921 gegründet, um laut seinen Gründern, „Muskeljudentum” zu symbolisieren.

Maccabi profitierte von der Nakba, der systematischen Vertreibung der Palästinenser aus ihrer Heimat zur Gründung des Staates Israel. Über 800.000 Menschen wurden gewaltsam vertrieben, über 500 palästinensische Städte und Dörfer völlig vernichtet. Maccabi übernahm illegal das Stadion des arabischen Vereins Shabab al-Arab in Jaffa, nachdem die Palästinenser aus Jaffa vertrieben wurden. Auch heute noch befindet sich das Maccabi-Gelände auf dem palästinensischen Gebiet Abu Kabir im Süden Jaffas, das nach dem Landraub in Kiryat Shalom umbenannt wurde.

2024 unterzeichnete die Maccabi-Weltunion einen Vertrag mit dem Staat Israel, der Maccabi zu einem Teil der Staatspropaganda Israels, Hasbara, macht. Auch beteiligt sich die Union an Events für das Militär Israels, das laut IGH eine Apartheid ausübt und laut Untersuchung des UN-Menschenrechtsrats einen Genozid verübt, sowie laut IStGH Verbrechen gegen die Menschlichkeit und Kriegsverbrechen verübt.

Der Präsident von Makkabi Deutschland, Alon Meyer, beteiligte sich an einer Auszeichnung für israelische Militärs. Er posiert dabei mit einer völkerrechtswidrigen Karte Israels, auf der die palästinensischen Gebiete nicht existieren. Darauf steht: „Ich habe kein anderes Land“ und „Gemeinsam zum Sieg“, und „Held Israels aus Frankfurt am Main, Operation Eiserne Schwerter (Israels Name für den Genozid)“.

Laut der NGO "Kick it out Israel" ist Maccabi Tel Aviv der rassistischste Verein in Israels Fußball und für 118 von 367 rasstistischen Vorfällen verantwortlich.

Wer diese Kontexte zu Maccabi/Makkabi weglässt, kehrt die gewalttätige Geschichte dahinter unter den Teppich.
