My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.
Congratulations @cmyeaton & @C_R_Watson on fantastic new initiative to help move the work of @CDCgov's Center for Forecasting + Analytics forward. Excited that this project will increase the value of infectious disease models to public health and to the public across the country

Cool real-world evidence that we have an attention “budget” that is depleted by difficult decisions
Umpires pay more attention to more important calls, but any such moments of high attention result in more errors later in the game when attention runs out! https://t.co/AaGZguckk0
Incredibly powerful & important @NYTOpinion by @celinegounder on how vaccine disinformation agents cause public harm & re-traumatize families with recent loss.
Celine shouldn’t have had go through this. No one should. https://t.co/a0Vv8Mzqod
Glad the @AmerAcadPeds stepped up & asked @POTUS to declare emergency "Infants 6 months & younger are getting hospitalized w/ RSV at more than 7x rate observed b4 the Covid-19 pandemic in 2018, according to data from @CDCgov." Cc @PTF_org@CDCDirector /1 https://t.co/lovfHaPkf5
The contact follow-up rate in the Ugandan Ebola response seems to have been steadily declining over the last few reports. A 53% follow-up rate of contacts is ... worrisome (especially when this number has frequently been >85%). Hopefully just a blip.

Just finished this yr's Emerging Leaders in Biosecurity Initiative. Fantastic Fellows from US and around the world - already making so many valuable contributions. Their positive impact in the world will only grow in the years ahead-thanks to all for being part of the program!
We just completed the quite valuable Catastrophic Contagion pandemic exercise in Brussels, in partnership with @gatesfoundation and @WHO at the Grand Challenges annual meeting 1/x
Life expectancy changes during the Covid pandemic among 29 countries: the US among the most pronounced reduction. Several countries had bounce back improvement in 2021 (black arrows below). Vaccination uptake was correlated w/ less deficit

For this piece, I signed up for several job boards as a childcare worker with a high school degree. I was inundated with higher paid opportunities in fast food, hospital staffing, cleaning. My dive into the broken market for American childcare: https://t.co/pde55HyS1e

Uganda's health ministry is reporting the case count in their current #Ebola Sudan outbreak is 34 cases, 21 deaths. This already makes it in the top 20 of all recorded Ebola outbreaks, and it was only confirmed less than a week ago.
1st suspected death was in early August.
Something I missed yesterday about the Ebola Sudan outbreak in Uganda: Some of the cases have been found in a refugee settlement.
Not good.
