@edhelms@PlayMorePods Well done, Ed. Have you seen Taylor Downing's work on this? It's called "1983: The World at the Brink". we had him on for a bit of a discussion if you're up for a listen.

We hear it from students all the time: “.com websites are bad. .edu and .org websites are good, unless it’s Wikipedia.” These misconceptions can lead students dangerously astray. A thread on the problem and lesson ideas to use with your students. 🧵
Enjoyed the conversation with fellow travelers of history teaching @C_duPlessis and @WilliamHPalk. Their interest in history teaching and learning is deeply engaging. Check out their other conversations at https://t.co/7GBDnHtNNN
I asked and Michael delivered. As he does! Have a listen if you want some insight on the Normandy Landings. Or just to hear Michael's flawless French pronunciation and my attempt to say 'Leclerc'.
"#19 D-Day - Operation Overlord with Michael Neiberg" at https://t.co/YPrrpshVoM
@MichaelNeiberg @pjstelzel That's the big question, right? How do we balance complexity and time? And if we have more time, how do we avoid overwhelming 14/15 year olds with complexity? They likely have little prior knowledge, so we probably cant assume any understanding of 19th century geopolitics.
@raoulmeyer There's a story of a football team from Madascar who scored a shit ton of own goals in protests of a refs decision. Does that count? They lost by 149 goals to 0. So a proper hissy fit.
Looking forward to speaking @JHGCentre in #SouthAfrica this Wednesday about lessons from the #Genocide Against Tutsi in #Rwanda. (Virtual event, free & open to the public.)
Remarks based on my article published by @StanfordLaw’s @SLPRonline and free at: https://t.co/kq4pVqJ56F.
Ah, as Sandra Swart once said, Historians connect the idiographic with the nomothetic...whatever the fuck that means. Do Historians just walk around knowing what these terms mean?! @WildPasts_
What a great chat with Prof Karen Harris! Insightful and necessary.
