Within that moment, suddenly something amazing occurred to him. If I live again, then she might as well!
That was the answer to Tam’s question. I fight because last time, I failed. I fight because I want to fix what I did wrong.
I want to do it right this time.
Why? Rand thought with wonder.Because each time we live we get to love again. That was the answer. It all swept over him, lives lived, mistakes made, love changing everything. He saw hundreds of them, thousands of them stretching to infinity. He remembered love & peace, joy &hope.
The first time I read the Wheel of Time I remember thinking dafuq is going on with these names and places. *Now*, today, if I read Fantasy with boring-sounding names like Richard Cypher or Icewind Dale I think “pfft! Grade-school”
I, Perrin Aybara, do pledge you my love, Faile Bashere, for as long as I live. For as long as I live & after. What I possess in this world I give to you.A horse an axe, a bow. A hammer.I will keep & hold you, succor & tend you, protect and shelter you, for all the days of my life.
Nynaeve, despite being older than the other Two Rivers folk who left on Winternight, had just as much maturing to do as the others. She grew tremendously but managed to retain many of her best traits: loyalty, compassion, mercy and love.
@DunstanShgon I’m curious to know if Perrin will suffer PTSD after the war. But you bring up a very good point. It’s quite possible Perrin has ALREADY dealt with those demons during the build up to Malden and in the months immediately following Faile’s rescue.
Here’s a question for our group: Perrin’s entire family is slaughtered by Fain and the Trollocs. Other than his one, brief moment of breakdown, he never thinks or reflects on them again. Is Perrin experiencing PTSD here, basically in denial that they’re all dead, or has he (1/4)
@Amys_theWise_1 Probably, on an attempt to keep the narrative focused on the story, RJ only briefly deals with different character’s grief. But he makes it obvious that it VERY MUCH exists. Olver. Pevara. Vandene. Adan and Morin of the Da’Shain Aiel. Lan Mandragoran. Tam al’Thor. So many others.
@PerrinAybaraAM Robert Jordan had PTSD. He discussed it in interviews and he certainly let some of it seep into his characters either knowingly or unknowingly. My guess is it was intentional. He certainly knew lots of Vets who dealt with it differently, too.
@PerrinAybaraAM Everyone grieves differently. Perrin is either burying is anguish VERY deeply or he’s distanced himself from it to such an extent that he’ll never need to deal with it. Now, take someone like Olver who is VERY young when this happens. How’s a boy to deal with this type of thing?
suddenly and tragically typically have a long grieving process to deal with. Perrin had his ENTIRE family slain and had a few hours, at best, to deal with it. One wonders if the shit is really going to hit the fan when he returns home after the war. (4/4)
But I wonder if, post-Tarmon Gai’don, if Perrin doesn’t have SERIOUS grief issues to deal with. Survivors of the Holocaust in World War II, families in ANY war who had many members killed or murdered during wartime, and really *any* person who has lost one or more family (3/4)
@WOTonPrime@mariadkennedy@kalaiedoscopes @DarylMcCormack I’m grateful to the folks who are doing this series. Robert Jordan’s vision, his amazing series will live on long after his death and legions of new fans will partake in the journey as we all have thanks in part to further exposure generated by this Amazon series.

BRANDON SANDERSON
Gaidal has been reborn, and I do know who he is, and he is younger than Olver. (Sorry.)
BRIAN CAYEN
Not sure if this was asked but have we seen Gaidal Cain reincarnated "on screen"?
BRANDON SANDERSON
RAFO on Cain, I'm afraid.
@SimonGrubb3@rafejudkins Well, Jordan wrote tons of it into the books so Rafe wouldn’t necessarily be inserting it “for its own sake”. It’s now just a matter of where to include it and how much. He could literally chop out ALL of it and the story would be just fine. But should he?
Did @rafejudkins ever say if his show would be PG-13 or R? Lots of nudity, death and rape in the books? Game of Thrones didn’t really shy away from it so I’m wondering what Wheel Of Time will be like...
