I have learnt that engaging the community in units of work is vital. I have taught myself and been educated on some ways to do so; Create opportunities for the community to see the work, go to non-school events and use social media. Engaging all parents, volunteers and teachers.
By using twitter with other professionals and working towards preparing my unit of work I now understand students need to incorporate the 4 C’s in the future #UONTeach https://t.co/gV7gaIzdQa
Through delivery of my #Sustainability unit to a class, I know students will be given the the tools necessary to understand and make their own decisions and judgements on the importance of moving towards and maintaining a sustainable future. #UoNTeach
Since using twitter as a resource to research my chosen topic on sustainability, I have accumulated a vast amount of resources and information that I will be utilising within the unit. #UoNTeach
My unit of work is going to be focused on waste reduction and re-use. Looking back on my research and general global issues I want to focus my work on promoting a clean, healthy and sustainable future. #UoNTeach
With #EarthDay happening only a couple of days ago, what do you think are some other ways of brining about a #globalawareness in regards to creating and maintaining a #sustainable earth? #UoNTeach
@GuyWalters10 How tragic is it! I recently tweeted about an initiative (Seabins) that has been implemented in some countries and showing positive results to reduce ocean waste.
The Department of the Environment and Energy has an enormous range of information which can be useful in teaching students about recycling. The info ranges from types of recyclable plastic to policies and strategies to reduce waste. https://t.co/q6IyOk9scw #UoNTeach
Through using Twitter, I have been able to gain key information that has helped create a distinct pathway in which I will focus my unit of work #Sustainability#UoNTeach
Whilst constructing a unit plan on sustainability I have realised the benefit of real-world problem solving. Students can answer any hypothetical question about sustainability but when you link the activities to the local community. This is invaluable. #UoNTeach
@JessLandrigan Yes I’ve seen your posts on this issue! I feel more and more companies are getting on board with eradicating and even recycling plastic products to make something new.
Another great #Sustainability initiative taken on by a universal company! Does anyone know of any other #PlasticReduction initiatives being implemented by large-scale companies or even individuals? #UoNTeach
“Seabins” are an amazing and effective creation which is being used in some areas to clean up waste in the ocean. Has anyone seen or heard of any other inventions or initiatives that humans are implementing to reduce ocean waste? #UoNTeach#Sustainability#Plastic#GlobalGoals
A great website to do with sustainability in schools is https://t.co/J674t026qa. As I discovered the website provides a range of useful information and resources for incorporating sustainability in the school setting.
