Sarah Sackman KC has been the Labour MP for Finchley and Golders Green since 2024 and is currently the Minister of State For Justice.

Sarah is a barrister by profession and was previously granted a scholarship to train at the Supreme Court of Israel in Jerusalem. Sarah has described the Israeli judiciary as ‘“a pillar of Israeli democracy.”’

Sarah previously stood as the Labour candidate in Finchley & Golders Green in 2015 but lost to the Tory candidate Mike Freer.

In 2024, Sarah stood on a ‘platform of cutting business rates, freezing energy prices, giving more money to the NHS and caring for the elderly.’

In 2015, the same year that Jeremy Corbyn became leader of The Labour Party, Sarah became Vice Chair of the lobby organisation the Jewish Labour Movement (JLM).

It was complaints of alleged antisemitism in the Labour Party under Corbyn that the JLM submitted to the Equalities and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) and which initiated the EHRC’s subsequent investigation. The late Sir Geoffrey Bindman KC declared these complaints to be ‘“almost entirely bogus”.’

Sarah is firmly opposed to the recognition of a Palestinian state. This would appear to be at odds with her membership of another lobby organisation, Labour Friends of Israel, which openly and continuously advocates for a ‘two state solution’.

Sarah also opposes the suspension of arms exports to Israel.

In an interview with The Jewish Chronicle in October 2025, Sarah spoke of the ‘ambient antisemitism’ that she believes has taken over parts of British cultural life - especially in ‘universities, public services…doctors…and schools’.

Sarah repeatedly stated in the interview that the ‘full force of the law’ should be applied in ‘rooting out “the oldest hate”.’

In discussing the current protests and assemblies in the UK, Sarah said that while protest is a ‘“cornerstone of our democracy”,’ it is right that the Public Order Act is being amended to restrict and ban ‘“repeat protests”.’
