Hi everyone! I am launching a neurodiversity affirming resource center in LA for kids and families with a few other ND therapists. We need to meet our minimum goal of $20k to cover costs to launch this Feb! Can you help us make it happen?? https://t.co/TGjGkvpNkT

As a clinical psychologist, I'm often asked what to do about school refusal. By which adults usually mean, how can we get the children to go to school and stop protesting? Here's why our kids need us to think differently. 1/

it’s valid to not want kids. it’s valid to also not want a career. it’s valid to want a peaceful, child-free cabin in the woods where you pick berries and never work again

(1) this is terrifying
(2) i never want to hear about food shortages in communist countries whenever capitalism is criticized

I work with children who are unhappy at school. One family told me what a therapist told them to do with their school-refusing 5-year-old. 'Put on his uniform', he said, 'and don't let him do things he likes until 3pm. Don't interact'. Here's why that is a misguided idea. 1/

As someone born & raised in Odessa for roughly 1/3 of my life, who spent the other 2/3 in America, I know that most people don’t know much about Ukraine - which I get, I have many blind spots, so I thought I’d tweet some little basic things in case it helps make it real 🧵

When we tell our neurodivergent children to make eye contact, sit still, stop looking distracted, stop crying, draw like the other children etc. We're telling them their comfort does not matter.

my first experience with imposter syndrome was when i was 6 years old watching PBS & being told that viewers like me funded the entire station
