Really pleased to see that my article on Babylon Berlin has been published in the Journal of Popular Film and Television. The link’s below if you’d like to read it (it’s open access), and if you’ve got the time, I highly recommend the series!

I am beyond appalled and absolutely heartbroken by this devastating decision.
Brookes was my academic home for four years. This department was where I fell in love with music research and catalysed my academic passion.
These HE cuts are reprehensible and reckless.
@RealEmirHan When I first saw this film I disliked it (I love it now) but emerged from the cinema needing to find out who this man was who had managed to out-Darcy Colin Firth in a third of the screen time.
@Matt_Denny I haven’t found that it’s typically TV people who deny that shows created for streaming services are TV. I would argue that in this case medium specificity means recognising that there’s still value in TV as a category even as the distribution technology changes.
I’m a professor of theatre and performance. I have been teaching ‘rip-off’ degrees all my adult life. Let me summarise the pointless skills and experiences my students have accumulated: 🧵
🚨BREAKING: A stunning 80.4% of UCU members have voted to REJECT the employers pay ‘offer’
Who is isolated now @UCEA1 ?
RT if you are backing the strikes.
RT if you are voting YES in the ballot.
RT if you are UCU and Proud.

@Amanda_Vickery This wasn’t always so common. The recent trend has been to avoid what period dramas have traditionally been accused of: validating conservative values via nostalgia for a supposedly simpler time. One way to do this is to invite identification with a progressive character.
My book REANIMATED is up for pre order from @EdinburghUP! 30% off with NEW30. Please do consider requesting for libraries, adding to reading lists for courses on adaptation/seriality/horror, or requesting for review. Happy for DMs re content/availability https://t.co/6YaWa6DD5f
@mradamscott@TelevisionAcad @AppleTVPlus All of the nominations were so well-deserved, not least of all yours. One of the most compelling performances I've ever seen in a TV show.
@chilipeppereats@DrJewelKling If a title is asked for in any context, the truth should be given or the info’s incorrect. If her title is ‘Dr’, why select ‘Ms’, ‘Mrs’ or ‘Miss’? Which of these would you suggest she arbitrarily select? Or maybe she should select ‘Her Excellency’ or ‘The Most Reverend’?
@MikeSamuel8 I’m so sorry to hear that, Mike. Solidarity; precarious employment in academia is disheartening and anxiety-inducing, and so much talent is wasted because of it. I hope something stable, whether it’s academic or otherwise, comes up for you soon.
