People in the oil Industry are telling me that with a floor price being set in the fraudulent “carbon credit market” and the elimination of all of the loopholes in the larcenous carbon credit system Mark Carney bragging about a 600% increase in the Industrial Carbon Tax looks closer to the truth than any of the spin coming from the Premier’s Office and Alberta Energy.

As to the so called elimination of the “Production Cap” the requirement for any oil sands expansion requiring “decarbonization” by the producer being forced to pay into “carbon capture and storage”. Any multi billion dollar investment in development must be offset by a multi billion dollar “investment” / blackmail payment in the form of “carbon capture and storage” .

@ABDanielleSmith was completely outwitted by Carney/Brookfield and sold out Alberta contrary to the expressed direction of her own UCP Membership at UCP AGM 2025.

She is not fit to lead.

I just spoke with a friend who is the CEO of a major western producer of oil and gas. (Yes I have friends)

He advised me that his team have already advised him that the so called 95.00 Carbon Price will add 7.00 to 10.00 a barrel to the cost of production regardless of the market price of oil.

The reason for this is that Danielle’s team got played for chumps by Carney because along with the 5.00 increase in the industrial carbon tax, they stupidly agreed to closing numerous carbon credit loopholes that kept the burden of the Industrial Carbon Tax manageable from a cost of production perspective. This does not include the costs of “decarbonization”/carbon sucking for major expansions which will drive away capital investment.

Homegrown Alberta Producers are actually looking at investments in Venezuela rather than Alberta because cost of production as well as Dani’s failure to rein in the proliferation bureaucratic regulation is driving Alberta and Saskatchewan producers to look elsewhere to invest capital.

The consensus in the Industry is that Danielle, Rob Anderson, Brian Jean and her entire team don’t have a clue as to what they are doing and are constantly being made to look like rubes by Mark Carney.

All of @ABDanielleSmith ‘s “taxsplaining” won’t fix this. Industry leaders are privately musing about whether her entire government has hit its “Best Before” date.

CPP Investments just became the largest equity holder in a $13 billion U.S. LNG facility. Canadian retirees are now bankrolling American energy infrastructure because Canada couldn't get out of its own way fast enough. That should sting a little.

Commonwealth LNG hit FID today with hard financing in place, a signed EPC contract, and a diversified offtake stack.

Ksi Lisims, a Canadian project at 12 Mtpa (larger than Commonwealth), is still working toward FID.

Cedar and Woodfibre are under construction but are relatively small-scale Canadian facilities.

So on a "shovel-ready with money committed" basis, Commonwealth is arguably more advanced today than anything Canada has in the pipeline outside of LNG Canada itself, and it dwarfs what Cedar and Woodfibre will ever deliver.
