Big news ‼️ Thanks to the tireless efforts of advocates across Canada, our government has announced $78 MILLION for the Child Nutrition Fund, funding doubled by investments made by major foundations.

This investment will deliver lifesaving treatment for severe #malnutrition, including Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food, a simple, nutrient-packed paste that can bring children back from the brink of severe malnutrition.

This milestone comes after Results Canada's volunteers and fellows have written letters in the media and met with MPs to highlight this solution and the role Canada can play. Our voices are saving lives 🙌

There was a very special guest at Canada's announcement of its $675 million investment in
@Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance today! ✨ Our incredible volunteer Maria was there to share her perspective as an advocate who worked alongside many Results Canada volunteers. Their collective and relentless work helped make this crucial commitment to global immunization possible!

Speaking to the crowd – which included Canadian decision-makers and our partners – Maria said: “We in Canada stick to our commitments, we in Canada help our neighbours here at home and abroad... we saw this with today’s announcement that will help save millions of lives – we’ve shown that Canada cares, Canadians care, and we will continue to care and continue to fight.” 👏👏👏

Since July 2024, our volunteer advocates have worked tirelessly – writing letters and emails to MPs, meeting with decision-makers, publishing letters to the editor, and sharing personal stories about how immunization has shaped their lives.

Over the last few weeks, big changes in Canada's political landscape and the challenges around international assistance around the world have made our advocacy more challenging. But advocates like Maria didn’t let these obstacles discourage them. It’s thanks to their unwavering commitment that Canada remains a global leader in health and vaccine equity today!

📢 BREAKING NEWS 📢

Today, the Honourable Ahmed Hussen, Minister of International Development announced $675 million for @Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance! 🎉 And boldly stated that "Canada remains firmly committed to investing in international assistance, because there’s clear evidence that it’s the right thing to do, and the smart thing to do, to build a healthier and more prosperous future for the next generation"

The global fight for equitable access to lifesaving vaccines is one of the most important causes of our time and it is being threatened by the cuts to international assistance from the US and other actors. But Canada will not turn its back on the world.

After months of our volunteer advocates and partners urging Canada to invest in global immunization, we are thrilled about this significant investment in a healthier, more prosperous world #ForOurFuture. It will help vaccinate 500 million children and prevent up to 9 million deaths by 2030 as well as support equitable access to healthcare for marginalized communities and prevent future infectious disease outbreaks.

This investment from Canada also addresses gender equity challenges. For instance, Gavi will protect millions of girls from human papillomavirus (HPV), a leading cause of cervical cancer – a cancer that could be ELIMINATED through access to immunization. #InternationalWomensDay
