Market stat of the Day. US stocks have doubled from a closing low hit during the depths of the pandemic last year. The benchmark S&P 500 rose 0.3 per cent on Monday, its fifth consecutive gain. The small advance lifted the index 100 per cent from its March 2020 closing low.
Forecasts by IMF today shows they still expect world growth at 6% in 2021, easing to 4.9% in 2022, although 2022 forecast is up from 4.4% in April. IMF revised up their SA GDP forecast for 2021 to 4% from only 3.1%. The upward revision would have been better without recent unrest
