You cannot:
Work full time, raise children, keep a spotless home, show up fully in your marriage, maintain friendships, stay fit, build wealth, read books, pursue hobbies, serve only home cooked meals, answer every email, and still make the 3:30 school pickup.
That standard was created to keep you exhausted and blaming yourself. Let it go.
i always see comments saying they’d love to see her on tv but pls pay popi R80 for her exclusive travel content. she needs to have the freedom to fully curate her experiences instead of being given a television deal that would limit her creative control. support her as a viewer.
Every time we repeat the line ‘the boy child is being left behind’, we reduce a structural problem to a sentimental one. The real issue is not what boys are losing in the present, but what many were never systematically equipped with from the start.
Historically, dominant models of masculinity socialised and continue to socialise boys for authority and physical endurance, not for emotional competence. Culture, religion and peer codes elevate stoicism, competitiveness and control, while treating emotional literacy as either feminine or irrelevant. Parenting and schooling, whether by design or neglect, largely mirrors this hierarchy of values. The result is not a mystery as large numbers of boys reach adolescence and adulthood without the internal architecture required for emotional regulation, relational stability or psychological resilience.
At the same time, emotional underdevelopment coexisted with social overinvestment. Boys were, in fact are often buffered from consequence, indulged in behaviour reframed as boys will be boys’ and socialised into expectations of automatic access to space, to leadership, to women, to economic opportunity. This is how gendered power reproduces itself. Privilege does not only operate through institutions, but through everyday permissions and lowered accountability thresholds.
That model functioned efficiently in a labour market and political economy structured around male centrality. But contemporary social and economic systems increasingly reward capacities that traditional masculinity did not prioritise ie. collaboration, adaptability, emotional intelligence and sustained interpersonal competence. What we are witnessing, therefore, is not the marginalisation of boys by girls’ progress, but the exposure of a masculinised socialisation script that is poorly aligned with current realities.
Framing this as boys being left behind by gender equity is analytically lazy and politically convenient. It avoids confronting the fact that previous advantage was not matched by equivalent investment in human development. What is eroding is an inherited entitlement that was never designed to be earned through psychological or relational competence.
Improving outcomes for boys requires a recalibration of masculinity itself, a deliberate shift toward teaching emotional accountability, self-regulation and relational ethics as core developmental competencies, not optional character add-ons.
Until we are willing to interrogate masculinity as a system of social training not merely as individual attitude or behaviour, we will keep misdiagnosing the problem and recycling the same moral panic under different headlines.
These are the 7 brave South African citizens who joined the Global Sumud Flotilla sailing to deliver aid in Gaza. Israel has started intercepting the ships & kidnapping the passengers. Over to you @DIRCO_ZA 🇿🇦
New @MSF & @TAGTeam_Tweets analysis shows US funding cuts for research in SA will affect at least 27 HIV trials and 20 TB trials. https://t.co/zKoUYbW6no
Today is World TB Day. Did you know that every 3 minutes 1 child dies of #tuberculosis? Now more than ever we need sustained investments to fight TB. Curious what @MSF is doing?
You correct someone for saying "motho o shwele" instead of "o hlokahetse" because you understand that language carries meaning, history, and respect.
You do the same in Zulu, you don’t say umuntu ufile, you say ushonile, because it carries dignity.
“There’s the biggest mall that’s coming to Johannesburg,” says Panyaza Lesufi with aplomb. “Twenty-four thousand square meters. That’s the BRICS investment we managed to get.” Yep! We continue to build palaces of consumption, and none of production.

Let’s talk about some of the real victims of property theft. On this day in 1966, District Six was declared a whites-only area. More than 60 000 residents were forcibly removed and buildings razed to the ground. By 1982, there were little to no traces of the suburb left.

There is absolutely no need for a violent confrontation between South Africa and Rwanda! We DO NOT need another version of the second Congo War (a.k.a Great War of Africa) which saw over 5 million casualties. The deadliest conflict since WWII.
African leaders must get in a room & do everything in their power to resolve the eastern DRC problem peacefully! Anyone who loves AFRICA will advocate for nothing less!
We must call on Presidents Ramaphosa and Kagame to stop the War Talk: do everything in their power to peacefully resolve whatever differences!
War NEVER gives Africa any benefit. Only western, maybe even Eastern imperialist profit out of war: they own the means of producing weapons, ammunition, and all relevant war equipment and gear. They also have advantage over mineral extraction since it is their economies that have power to industrialise those minerals into actual products.
In addition, South Africa must keep the conversation on the terms of its mandate under international law: it is part of a PEACEKEEPING mission. If its standing as a peacekeeping force has been compromised, then it MUST admit and retreat.
Peace, nothing else, but peace, is the central objective and most derivable outcome.
Stop the WAR TALK NOW! Africa needs to be in peace with itself, PERIOD! War mongering is futile and ill informed!
South Africa receives the largest share of U.S. HIV funding globally through PEPFAR. This funding supports millions of people living with HIV, providing life saving treatment and health worker salaries. A pause on this funding will devastate progress.
As the war continued, for over a year, Israel, Hamas, and world leaders have failed to agree and impose a sustained ceasefire in #Gaza.
