Ch 4 explores the gendered expectations we find in the world. From kids tv, clothing & toys through to music videos & pornography there's a drip drip of messaging which reinforces harmful stereotypes. Being aware is important if we want to challenge! #GenderStereotypes
@Sue_Cowley@EYTalking I was an experienced EY teacher who (along with a hefty pay cut) was made to complete a grad dip in childhood practice to stay in the sector when teachers were replaced by managers in my LA. My EY specialist degree meant nothing but is good enough to be a higher paid teacher!
Something AMAZING is going on in Dumfries and Galloway ELC. The @Froebelian presentations from our @MHSES Froebel in Childhood Practice students were shared with such passion - the development projects were totally inspirational.@froebelfutures @FroebelTrust
@EdadventuresM I don’t agree with it at all- when I realised it was basically setting my daughter up for a lifetime of ‘it’s ok to take work home’ mindset that curses me
@CiarnaC @CreativeSTAR Most of my class remove their shoes on entering nursery which is lovely…until there’s a fire drill in winter and they have to stand on a soggy field in socks! We already ask parents to provide wellies so didn’t want to add the financial burden of slippers too
@LouiseD44986590 @suzannezeedyk The stigma attached to ‘holding them back’ is something I have been challenging for a very long time, it’s exhausting and frustrating, and very hard to change
1.Parents need to develop thick skin with all the accusations levied at us whether that be about our parenting style, choices or the assumption that we 'don't understand' or 'don't know' something. Or shockingly that we are judged on the basis of our class, postcode or job.....
At age 17 I had a baby, was single and couldn’t drive. I got myself and my son to school every day in all weathers to complete my A Levels (it had a staff nursery attached to it which I was thankfully allowed to use)
Hard times 😬

If you work in any kind of childcare or in CfE early level, please check out the latest Upstart blog ... big changes are on the way & EY people need to respond to the consultation.
