Welcome @Carbon_Title to the collective!
Their mission: Carbon-free buildings.
Construction alone accounts for 4+ gigatons of carbon emissions every year — 40% of greenhouse gas emissions globally. But we can’t stop building homes and hospitals, so it is imperative that we transition to a zero-carbon supply chain as soon as possible.
So Trevor Dryer and @mileshaladay founded @Carbon_Title, a platform that grants users seamless access to their US buildings’ carbon footprints and estimates emissions for their real estate portfolios. Carbon Title guides property owners, developers, and contractors towards carbon neutrality, fostering awareness, transparency, and accountability in building emissions.
Carbon Title uses the latest technology to accomplish their mission. Most notably, they are pioneering the tokenization of buildings as NFTs(!), a groundbreaking approach that ties real-world assets to digital representations, ensuring traceability and immutability of carbon records. Carbon credits are represented in a similar manner, permanently linked to buildings to offset emissions and eliminate the risk of double-counting. And the open nature of their decentralized, blockchain-based database makes it easy for 3rd parties to validate the information, fostering trust.
@Carbon_Title caught the attention of @clim8collective for several reasons:
🏗️ Tackling a huge industry: Carbon Title is the sole decentralized decarbonization platform that unites all stakeholders within the real estate sector. It's not just software; it's a catalyst igniting climate action within one of the most challenging industries to decarbonize.
🛣️ On-chain sustainability: By establishing secure, transparent, and immutable systems for tracking and verifying environmental impact, Carbon Title is laying the foundation for trusted, verifiable climate action on a global scale.
📊 Unprecedented transparency: Unlike other platforms that limit access to emissions data, Carbon Title boldly makes emissions data of all buildings public, not just a select few. This exposure improves industry benchmarking and shines a critical spotlight on building emissions that are often overlooked, but that are essential in the fight against climate change.
Their recent launch of Carbon Title Explorer offers visibility into carbon footprints for over 100 million U.S. buildings, propelling transparency, engagement, and actionable change.
We're excited to welcome Carbon Title to the collective and help accelerate the journey towards carbon-neutral buildings.
