Talent can handicap you.
Because talent only gets you so far.
Talent allows you to get "above average" with little effort.
But then the difficulties come.
You hit plateau after plateau. No progress.
You can't push through because you never built the discipline, grit, and habits that carry you past the obstacles that stand in the way of mastery.
The talented can forge those things too, but they have less incentive early on, so many never do.
I've seen this happen over and over, including in myself. True for any skill.
Beware your own talent.
