@dimatkach69 @tcunderdahl @SenSanders The district does not set the goal when they hire these college educated professionals. These are arbitrary goals set by state and federal agencies. I’m not saying give a raise based on poor performance. I’m saying pay educators what they’re worth based on their education level.

@dimatkach69 @tcunderdahl @SenSanders Have you seen these math tests? Again, I can’t speak for Boston. But many I’ve seen are HEAVILY based on reading comprehension of story problems. Which is not assessing basic math skills, or based on the way skills are taught to students. There is little alignment.

I agree that teachers need to be held to a standard. God knows not all of them should be teaching our kids, but I also don’t believe that teachers and students should be set up for failure.

@tcunderdahl @SenSanders I can’t speak to those specific districts, but that is SO far beyond a teacher’s control. If there is no parental involvement at home (because they are busting their butts to afford to feed their kids) and no support of admins, the kids are being failed by society. Not teachers.

@SenSanders While it’s a start that I support, it’s not the only thing that needs to change with the system. Sure, I’d *consider* going back to teaching for a minimum of $60,000. But that’s not enough to make up for the red tape and abuse that happens in the system.
