Busy day for the "Oscars are about *quality* not gender or race" brigade. Takes real, blinkered, moronic dedication to post this on every single critical article as if it were some unreturnable mic-drop and not the most skullfuckingly basic take since the dawn of takes.
PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE: The elusive Héloïse refuses to sit for a wedding portrait out of her resistance to marriage. When her mother hires Marianne to secretly paint the girl, an unlikely relationship blossoms between the two in Héloïse’s final days of freedom.
PARASITE: A working class Korean family slowly infiltrates the world of a wealthy family down the street, yearning to live like their neighbors. As the two families’ lives begin to dangerously overlap, tensions beget violence in this uproariously funny black comedy.
