@babyapples96 I love how educational this project has been for you and you found more than just the negative facts about greenhouse gases. #prescottchem
@jusufovic_selma I'm glad you're learning so much, interesting to learn more about chemicals especially those that can be so harmful is always interesting to me #prescottchem
Something I learned in the research of my project is how the "E-factor" is used in green chemistry as a measurement metric. This measures the amount of waste per kilogram for different chemical industries. I never knew this existed before I started my project. #prescottchem
@alli20458479 I like that your moment came from better understanding another subject when relating to something maybe that made it more real. I always think that when I understand what I am converting in science rather than random problem on an exam makes more sense to me #prescottchem
@Ginnfinn1 I completely agree with this, going along with what you said this is why it was cool to learn how to better use twitter for topics like this that I am interested in to better educate myself! #prescottchem
2) how green chemistry is all around us and how sustainability has opportunity in so many places with people working tirelessly to continue to improve this all the time. #prescottchem
Two moments I had while in the Green Goggles course was 1) how essential twitter can be as a learning platform. It is a great way to share knowledge, express ideas and ask questions. #prescottchem
@SophieCapistra2 I love this project idea and it is something I know nothing about! I print rather often still and I think it is often still in school so this is a great alternative choice #prescottchem
@Ginnfinn1 I love finding these alternatives!! I am not sure but they have even recently come out with pasta straws, interesting concept but very cool and eco friendly! Also very non controversial because does not require risky chemical creations #prescottchem
@olaceychem I loved how you were able to attach this article which allowed for extra reading material! Insct control is always such an interesting debate as it is so often looked at as harmful, thanks for the info!! #prescottchem
When making aspirin, the use of acetic anhydride is used which makes the process more green. If not diluted can be potentially very hazardous, how is this dilution process perfected to ensure safety for everyone taking aspirin? #prescottchem#sciencetwitter#greenchemistry
This colorful ball is actually the zika virus! The impact this virus has on the environment is the effect that has lead to birth defects in babies and rare neurological disease which effects communities, and overall populations if spread enough. #prescottchem#greenchemistry
@Hannah24179572 Hi Hannah I love that this is project that is great ability to be researched but also something that hits close to hoem for you to hopefully continue to fuel that personal interest!
#prescottchem#greenchemistry
@KristyM63855656 Kristy, I think this is a great topic for research because there is so much fueling the industry with the desire to use less plastic that it could be a very interesting project #prescottchem#greenchemistry
Here is the article I have been looking at if anyone wants to take a look, let me know if theres something extra interesting I may have missed! 🧐https://t.co/UBIbN0Zjdh
With so much going on in the green chemistry realm with waste, what I found interesting was an article I was reading about green chemistry in the pharmaceutical industry and am considering doing my project on the changes that could come with that #prescottchem#greenchemistry
In particular the article sites the use of better solvents that have less "volatile" environmental release. In the manufacturing of medication which is felt to be such a good thing I did not think of how the creation of these meds could effect the environment. #prescottchem
