Worst experience with @Avis recently when a car I rented had damage (while parked). Called to report and person gave wrong information about process, implied that potentially there’d be no charge, on return the person basically shrugged when we pointed out damage and asked what
To do. Then today receive a letter dated 6 days ago saying that I’ll be charged for full damage 7 days after date on letter. Customer service won’t help, claims is closed. No opportunity to go through insurance, etc. It’s one thing to be responsible for the damage but at least
@MaddieMierMD Love seeing recognition for our field! I hope you tell your leaders frequently because most child life specialists are not adequately compensated or staffed to a level to meet all patient needs.
@LadyChuan@DrDeb_DVM Also, we are people too and have a million reasons we may or may not mask at this time and making us have to “set the example,” all the time is exhausting our ability to cope with a 3 year pandemic.
@gretchemaben@JenniferLBH Wide flats weren’t enough for me. I tend to now wear stylish sneakers with dress pants for hospital work and only wear flats for very short times. Heels only for special occasions.
@hwoodwardnyc I stumbled across this very old reply again today. I actually now talk about this when I teach students about our code of ethics and share my perspective on how this is not ethical. I did also file an ethics complaint but was very disappointed in that process.
#MedTwitter need advice. There’s some drama happening over on Instagram regarding a story shared on a public “child life” account. The poster asked for “ridiculous referrals” int the name of humor. Most of the referrals probably are funny for most child life specialists. 1/2

@liza_not_lisa @babbymd @hhensley1029 A friend of mine talks about foods in terms of how they make her kids feel. Coaches her four year old through choosing snacks based on how hungry she is and how long she needs it to keep her full.
@DanielimMD @SapnaKmd Allowing myself to feel all the feelings and not pretending I’m some kind superhuman. I think as a child life specialist it’s easier in a way because my purpose is not to fix but to be with and so my ultimate purpose is the same whether a patient leaves the unit healed or not.
@baileymd@Least_ordinary Was just talking with students today about this. Always have to read the situation if crying in patient/family presence and if it interferes with fulfilling your role that can be a problem but also is often very meaningful for a family to know they are cared for that deeply.
@odetteramos@BaltimoreDPW Has it been confirmed that water in other parts of the city has been tested and is safe to consume? I live in remington and the line of the boil notice is awfully close to my house.
@ar2flo@BeckyPlatt3 Brave is a feeling and they may not be feeling brave so it still might be an invalidating statement. How about “it might hurt a bit but I’ll be here with you and we will get through it.” And then offer suggestions of how to get through it and what they need to do.
@gaetkoguy@IjeomaOparaPHD Was recently in the Minneapolis airport and this is their bathroom set up (some are full sink in stall) but still are gendered which didn’t make any sense to me given the setup.
