During his post-race press conference, Denny Hamlin talked a little more about honoring Ned Jarrett - who drove the same No. 11 that Hamlin does now - in his interview on the frontstretch.
"If you listen to MJ, he'll say that 'Cale's the original 11', right? But if you know the sport and you know the history, you know that Ned was the one that came onto the scene - and the guy showed up, he won. Didn't he win a race by like four, five laps or something?"
"14 laps."
"14 laps. Like, come on."
Denny mentioned the relationship he's built over the years with Dale Jarrett and said he sent Dale a message following Ned's passing a few days ago. Mentioned the respect he has for the Jarrett family as well as growing up knowing Ned as a broadcaster.
"I just will never forget that voice. Him and BP and all them, that's how my introduction into the past started. Just, again, very much like the Busch family, you just try to do your best to pay your respects to him in a difficult time for the family."

Ned Jarrett was instrumental in my development as a race car driver OUTSIDE of the car. First thing he did was had me complete a Dale Carnegie course. He helped me even though he had two sons trying to make it like I was. Rest in peace Gentleman Ned. 🏆
NASCAR Hall of Famer Ned Jarrett has passed away at age 93. The Newton, NC native won two Cup Series championships and 50 races before becoming one of the sport's most beloved broadcasters. Known as "Gentleman Ned" for good reason. Rest in peace. https://t.co/zSlJJOksmz

BIG was released 38 years ago today.
During the piano scene, Tom Hanks & Robert Loggia spotted their stand-ins waiting in case they couldn’t pull off the choreography. They decided to do the entire scene themselves & nailed it without needing the doubles.

Tonight felt exactly like a Bristol night race I would go to in the 80s. Chaos and uncertainty throughout and a thriller of a finish. You can't ask for more. That simply was a classic @NashvilleSuperS.
Tony Stewart completed "The Double" 25 years ago today.
He is the only driver to complete all 1,100 miles of the #Indy500 and the #CocaCola600 in the same day.
He finished sixth at Indy and third at Charlotte.

Before he started his truck team he called me and asked how we did it. Brought him to my shop showed him everything we had handed him my company budget and off he went!
Quick story about Kyle Busch….Johnny Bench and I threw out the first pitch at the baseball game at Bristol last yr to Chase Elliott and Kyle. During the rain delay I asked who has won the most races at Bristol. Cup wise, we threw out names like Rusty Wallace and Darrell Waltrip. Kyle was quick to remind us that he had more thru ALL circuits of racing at the track. He was a dawg behind the wheel and I’m saddened to hear of his passing today. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Hug ur people! Sad day in the racing world.
