@diiorio8302@KIN110UofR I completely agree with you. In a lot of professional sports they do not treat their athletes like people and only as a way to make money. I kind of view it as how horses are treated within the horse racing world.
Doing PA outside when the air quality is poor from the forest fires makes it significantly harder and potentially dangerous. If you coached or participated in physical activity when the air quality was poor for you notice a difference in yourself/your athletes?@KIN110UofR
@KIN110UofR after talking about the governments involvement in sport, I wanted to look for more information on it and found this article.
Take a look if you’d like!

@Rana_elgendy22@KIN110UofR I don’t think this is fair because other countries have teams that’s they would want to watch. I feel like they should just schedule events based off the time that it is in the city hosting and then it is fair for everyone instead of a preference for one place.
As we looked up different sources in class to see how many on the top ten articles were about women, do we think as women sport rises up that there will be more featured articles about them? Or do we think it will stay the same no matter what?
@KIN110UofR
Sports has many benefits but stress isn’t one of them. With social media in sports picking up and people’s opinions becoming public it can take a toll on mental health. Do we think that the stress from outside sources will affect the health of athletes in the future?@KIN110UofR
@ddxxzzyy@KIN110UofR I feel as if it all depends on the individual. For one person it could make them less violent as they got some of their pent up anger out but it could also be the opposite of having a bad game and taking it out on those at home.
@vanshita0311@KIN110UofR I think that as an athlete you need to understand your body. There is a difference between being sore and injured and that’s where a lot of the problems are. I think if you are injured you need to stop but if a little pain that could be soreness it’s up to the athlete to decide.
Do we think that there should be more changes with contact sport now that we are aware of serious issues that come from concussions. Or that due to people knowing the risk of the game it should stay the same no matter what.
@KIN110UofR
@austyn_roos@KIN110UofR I agree with what Cole said. Today I was watching a game for the Manitoba Moose and there was two guys who got a penalty for fighting but the refs broke it up too quick for their liking so as soon as they got out of the box they dropped the gloves again. Nobody made them to that
@casinhawkins @KIN110UofR 100% body image plays a huge role in young athletes mental health. Looking back to youth I struggled with the way I looked because I wasn’t “ one of the skinny girls” due to me having more muscle than other girls. I ended up struggling to like myself for a while after that.
Looking back at your time as a youth in sport, did you ever have a coach use poor choice in language? If you were to have a teacher used those words to you do you think they would still have a job?
@KIN110UofR
Do you think the deviance of coaches language is acceptable?
Kori Cheveie and Jessica Campbell are great examples of women in leadership roles in sport. They coaches in the Professional Hockey league but they were also the first women to be a head coach for a game for the NHL.

There are many ways that challenge gender norms in sport but I found an article that challenges it as well as shed some light on certain rules of tennis. In this you will see a man playing a tennis match in a skirt as the rules state.

@KIN110UofR Brigette Lacquette was the first Indigenous women to make the Olympic hockey team. She joined the team in 2008. On the team they won both silver and gold. Another massive accomplishment that she achieved is she is the first Indigenous women NHL scout.

For the olympics in August 2024 with the early bird deal prices can range from 3,380 to 10,510. These are for multiple days and they range to what the individual would want to watch when they are there.
Does this seem like a reasonable price to you?
@KIN110UofR
@KIN110UofR Parents and guardians need to realize that children are there to have fun. They don’t feel the constant need to be the best one on the field/court. I also feel like they need to let the children do their own thing and not micromanage their actions like who they talk/play with.
@KIN110UofR In this article it talks about the pay difference between Team Canada’s men and women’s soccer players. It really talked about how different the pay is between the two teams.

@KIN110UofR I don’t believe that there is one person who decides what is a sort or not. As a society the way that we act towards an upcoming sport is what would decide if it will become a sport or not. If majority of people aren’t agreeing then it may stay without the title of being a sport
@KIN110UofR I would define sport as an organized activity that involves physical activity, competition, a common goal that everyone is going for, strategy, and that can become competitive. The level at what the game is played at is high and there are set rules to be followed.
