I know people are desperate to score political points based on pre-planned stunts (the staffer getting video is a nice touch), but it's not Noem being put in a bad spot here. It's her security team you are throwing under the bus—people who are trying to do their jobs.
Padilla has a million ways to get answers. Noem even gave him her phone number after. But he was looking for attention, even if it meant putting those security officers in an impossible position.
We need to start discouraging politicians from doing things exclusively for attention. Or rewarding such behavior.
@GHeapmo@badforgood@SirenHuntings@larry_sue64@DanielTurnerPTF@DOGE No easy way to say this..
You’re delusional.
In FY2023, federal spending:
Medicare: 12%
Defense: 13%
Social Security: 21%
Literally all spending on Medicare and defense combined barely exceeds what was spent on Social Security.
@badforgood@GHeapmo@SirenHuntings@larry_sue64@DanielTurnerPTF@DOGE Helvering v. Davis (1937),
The Court ruled that“The proceeds of both the employee and employer taxes are to be paid into the Treasury like any other internal revenue generally, and are not earmarked in any way.”
@GHeapmo@SirenHuntings@larry_sue64@DanielTurnerPTF@DOGE My friend, SS is administered and funded by the federal government, and it is absolutely a significant part of the federal deficit every year.
I don’t know what you mean about the rest of this, but you can yell into the wind to your heart’s content about it.
@GHeapmo@SirenHuntings@larry_sue64@DanielTurnerPTF@DOGE I’m surprised to read this..
SS, and every other unfunded entitlement, is already plummeting deeper into insolvency and dragging the entire federal budget with it.
No one is touching it because no one has the guts to be honest with the average voter about the coming collapse.
@UltiPlanet Interesting!
Can you describe your thought process and how you got from these stats to positing player bias, either conscious or unconscious?
Do you have any runner ups for theories that explain this disparity?
@KelseyTuoc@raspy_aspie Just a quick Q:
Where do you fall in the values trade-off when one includes the consideration that one million babies were killed in abortions in 2023?
That same 5% reduction is 20,000 fewer babies killed.
Surely if 50 deaths move the needle for you then 20,000 must, too.
@ModernArtTB Tom: “…y’all just don’t understand science or morality.”
Also Tom: “…babies are not human and that means it’s okay for mothers to kill their own children.”
@JesparDalVar@DougPolkVids It’s a matter of interpretation?
For the BBJ, the turn/river cannot ever help the players, while it can kill what would be a qualifying hand. Catch-22.
Meaning, if the BBJ is only won off the first 7 cards, then it’s a catch-22 to base the qualification off of all 9.
@DougPolkVids I get the reason for the rule but it does strike me as a catch 22.
Ostensibly, this rule exists to mitigate the chance of PLO players hitting the BBJ — you don’t get to use 9 cards to qualify, only 7.
But if the last two cards can’t help, isn’t it unfair that they can hinder?
@CrownMaybe I think this is clearly within the bounds of normal and healthy behavior. But, I can see how people would listen to this and take a less charitable view of it.
The difference probably lies in whether one thinks this is where the slyness ends, or if this is just the beginning.
@BAEWATCH_1@gzez_christ@watchUFAtv “Why won’t the other prisoner ever choose to cooperate?” I ask myself, right before I go back to hitting the defect button like it’s a speed bag.
@andystackspoker Without that understanding, without that commitment, it’s all too easy to blame one’s spouse for the state of the marriage and cite a fault or failure on their part for the divorce. Even “irreconcilable differences” is enough these days.
That’s why I think a vow to God matters.
@andystackspoker So when things inevitably get rocky, or painful, or downright miserable, and especially when it seems that your spouse is responsible for the awful state of the marriage: nothing changes about the commitment.
Because the commitment is to God first, and above any person. 2/x
