Tom Brady shares what he tells every college athlete he meets and it's not what they expect.
"I hope this experience is hard for you. I hope it's not easy."
"I hope today in this game you're losing in the 4th quarter and you look at each other in the eye and try to figure out solutions to how you're gonna win the game."
"That's how you're gonna find out what you're made of."
You find out who you are when you are challenged. Expect adversity. Expect tough moments.
"Life is hard. The challenges of life are hard."
"This program is hard. It's built on toughness. It's built on resilience. And that's what I wanna see from this team."
You can't wish for easy or hope for easy.
Adversity is a gift if you let it be.

High school football coaches might have the most important job in any community and it’s overlooked. They set the culture for the largest group of young men in a school. If they build good men, not just wins, that ripple hits families, schools, and the whole community.
A teacher gave a balloon to every student, who had to inflate it, write their name on it, and throw it in the hallway.
The teacher then mixed all the balloons. The students were given 5 minutes to find their own balloon.
Despite a hectic search, no one found their balloon, At that point, the teacher told the students to take the first balloon they found and hand it to the person whose name was written on it.
Within 5 minutes, everyone had their own balloon. The teacher said to the students, "These balloons arelike happiness.
We will never find it if everyone is
looking for their own. But if we care about other people's happiness, we'll find ours too."
May your day be filled with happiness!🎉
Athlete: Coach… I think I want to quit.
Coach: Okay. Then let’s talk about why.
Athlete: I’m tired. All the early mornings, the pain, the pressure. Sometimes I wake up and wonder what I’m even doing this for.
Coach: That’s not quitting. That’s being human. Doubt shows up when you’re close to something that matters.
Athlete: But I’m not even sure I’m good enough. I look around and see people stronger, faster… happier.
Coach: Comparison is a liar. It shows you everyone’s surface but hides their struggle. You don’t need to be better than them. You need to be better than yesterday.
Athlete: What if I never win? What if I give everything and still fall short?
Coach: Then you’ll walk away with something most never touch—truth. The kind you only find when you’ve emptied yourself for something bigger than comfort.
Athlete: So… you think I should keep going?
Coach: I think you already know the answer. You wouldn’t be having this conversation if you truly wanted to stop. You just want someone to remind you that it’s worth it.
Athlete: It hurts, Coach. Some days, it really hurts.
Coach: Good. That means you care. And nothing worth having comes without pain. Now breathe. You’ve made it through every hard day so far.
Most quit before the breakthrough!
Don’t be like most!
COACH SABAN ON TRUTH
“The hardest part is we have to believe the truth when someone tells us we need to improve on something . . . if you don’t you’ll never improve.”
Great competitor and young man. Would be a great addition to any locker room! Wish I could coach him for another season and his future coaches will think so as well.
So grateful to be back at Penn State and on the field with teammates and the current team. Hard work and good relationships paying off. Football and Family 🏈 @PennStateFball
Important lesson for young athletes:
During my freshman year at Penn State, I was struggling to get on the field.
I hesitated to approach Coach O'Brien about it, but my dad reminded me he's a human being & over-communication is always best.
That conversation changed my career forever.
Here's why Bill O'Brien is an great coach and person ⬇️
