The calculation just gets trickier. 65 sounds vaguely achievable, in a pinch and some luck, but if the access age goes into 70s, for me it changes the equation. We deserve to be able to enjoy some things before we're too old and tired to make the most of it
An underrated aspect is how the state pension age keeps rising. We can't plan anyway bc of that, and tbh the prospect of having to make it into our 70s to access it is troubling
Three quarters of UK workers not on track for moderate pension income.
Result of years of austerity, low wages, high cost of living.
Maximum state pension is less than 50% of minimum wage. Neoliberals want to end the triple-lock.
Poverty awaits millions

Got me thinking of Alex Garland's Annihilation as a very prescient precursorn- the doubles in nature, plants growing in the shape of human forms, the bear with human screams, etc
The backrooms being something that takes from existing things, doesn't understand any of it, then feeds itself with the same thing over and over until it all starts to become unstable with that yellow tint? You couldn't make a better analogy for ai if you wanted to 😭
Kane being interviewed asked about gen AI during an interview for the film basically confirmed for me that the AI readings ppl have had for the film are 100% intentional
I only started paying into my work pension last September I couldn't afford the 9% salary sacrifice and for the last 10 years I hadn't been on secure contracts. Millions are experiencing the same difficulties. Which is why protecting our State pension is important.
Today, I’m launching a High Court claim against xAI, the company behind Grok.
I am just one of thousands of women and even children who have been the victim of abusive and sexualised AI deepfakes.
This should never have happened – and xAI must be held accountable.
@MarcAspinall Oh that's interesting! Haven't seen too much of that, but I'll be on the lookout now! I do feel we've veered too far in the direction of cosmetic procedures in general. Esp in film and TV - people used to look so much more normal (90s heroin chic notwithstanding)
I still remember a dude who worked at a place I used to work telling me I had a "receding hairline", i.e. male, lmao. I have to give that credit for the originality anyway, but basically so many dudes are so toxic now from being online, it's an unnavigatable field
@izakaminska An odd case. I'm v confused by the police footage as it seems the incident concluded (possibly?) at the perp's home? On somebody's driveway anyway, & the brother is also there? Maybe we find out more details after the mother's trial (alleged assisting by hiding the weapon)
@peirslouise@insiderjustin@danishacarterr They have so many potential customers! The markup on most drugs is insane, e.g. an estimated over 6000% markup to retail for a gram of cocaine. They can lose dealers, they can lose customers. None of it is a big problem to the guys at the top
