The announcement of a new ‘national lockdown’ in England will, we know, bring hardship, distress and suffering to many. We must hope and pray that this is an effective strategy against a growing pandemic.

Glorious Martyrs of England & Wales pray for us.
Today! - Sunday October 25th - 50th Anniversary of the Canonisation of the Forty Martyrs of England & Wales. Pray the Litany of the Martyrs & Saints ... their intercession is so needed as covid-19 emergency becomes more serious!
Today in Wales we celebrate the 6 Welsh Martyrs and their companions: Ss Richard Gwyn, Philip Evans, John Lloyd, John Jones, David Lewis and John Roberts. Today was the day that they were all canonised by Pope Paul VI in 1970 along with the 34 English Martyrs.
On this feast, we remember Pope St John Paul II's motto, 'Totus Tuus' which expressed his devotion to Mary.
These words remind us that when we are close to Our Lady, we will never lack the courage to open wide the door to Christ when he himself says to us: 'Do not be afraid!'
St Pope John Paul II, sometimes called ‘John Paul the Great’ was canonised in 2014 by Pope Francis. He is well known for his devotion to young people. He pioneered the international World Youth Days and presided over 9 of them. He is a co-patron Saint of World Youth Day.
This month the Church is asked to pray for women to be given roles of greater responsibility in the Church. Likewise, Pope St John Paul II awaited the time when the "feminine genius" would be manifested in society. Explore a call and ability unique to women in this blog.
'Faith, hope, and charity, therefore, lead to God the man who prays, the man, that is, who believes, hopes, and desires, and is guided as to what he should ask from the Lord by studying the Lord’s Prayer.'
