🧵 Jay Dyer TAG Refuted
AFAICT, Jay never provided a argument for TAG, but simply assumes it’s true. The argument implicit in his position seems to be:
1. If the preconditions for intelligibility (laws of logic, uniformity of nature, objective truth) exist, then God exists.
@blessedmikko Personally I think the main reason Jay uses TAG is bc it keeps him permanently on offense. He only has to introduce reasonable doubt into competing systems w/o ever having to positively justify his own, so he wins by default. But TAG itself doesn’t uniquely prove Orthodoxy.
John the Baptist is the son of Zechariah (Levite priest) and Elizabeth. Mary is Elizabeth’s “kinswoman”. Since tribal identity is patrilineal, Mary is of Judah (thru her father) while related to a Levite family thru her mother, making John and Jesus maternal relatives/cousins.
I have a challenge for all EO'S and Catholics
I believe John The Baptist is Jesus' Brother!
You believe Jesus didn't have literal blood brothers, you say that his "brothers" were his cousins or step brothers.
I go Live on Twitter space at 8 pm eastern
Let's see who is wrong or correct.
John’s self identification as “Beloved Disciple” is deliberately anonymous with theological intent. It refers both to himself and represents all of us. So, when Jesus says “Behold your mother” the entrustment of Mary as Mother isn’t to John alone, but to every true disciple.
1. I don't think about Mary
2. I don't pray to Mary
3. I don't venerate Mary
4. Mary didn't die for me
5. I have ZERO emotional or spiritual ties to Mary
6. Mary is NOT your Mother or my Mother.
I LOVE JESUS. THAT IS ALL.
A man crashed a stolen car outside St. Joseph Shrine. Then he bolted.
The Rector heard the crash and someone yelled "stop him."
So Rev. Jean-Baptiste Commins — in full cassock — tackled him, and held him until the police came.
Never underestimate a priest in a cassock.
@Biased_Blaise@KoJRestored@OrthodoxWario They went to Sheol/Hades. There are two sides to Sheol: Abraham’s Bosom (aka Paradise) and Gehenna. The righteous went to Abraham’s Bosom. The Good Thief went to Abraham’s Bosom (Paradise). After Christ died, He descended to Abraham’s Bosom to free the faithful.
“Tom, this is an intervention. Your meth addiction is tearing this family apart. We need you to stop and go to rehab.”
“ADDICTION? What the FUCK is this Latin legalism? It’s a DISEASE that has to be CURED by balancing my spinal nous fluid! Anathema! Anathema!
Anyone glorifying the "based and mystical Christian East" is out of their minds.
It is wild to hear many Convertodox go on about the authoritarianism of "Popery" while literally defending Patriarch Kirill.
If an ecclesial system is what an ecclesial system does, the decentralized Eastern system appears to have produced a loose federation of mafia-esque Patriarchates whose power is never checked by a central authority.
When those "ecclesial mafias" are later married to state power, or in ROC's case, the remnants of Soviet KGB and connections to gangster oligarchs, you get a deeply cynical religio-political system that would make some of the West's worst Popes blush.
The idea that an heir of Western Civilization and the Roman Catholic Church would ever turn East in their search for "purer" Christianity is frankly ridiculous. What non-ethnic Ortho converts do not realize is that the vague "mystical" non-specificity of EO doctrine and "Oikonimia" is a kind of smoke-screen for cynical, mafia-esque activity eventually.
Sure, OCA and a few other Convertodox jurisdictions aren't that way right now, but the fundamentals of a Kirill-style system exist there, because their leadership is not married to a central authority external to them to keep their leaders in check.
To be a Western convert to EO, you've really got to blur your eyes heavily to overlook this stuff, and you've furthermore got to ignore the counsel of many actual cradle ethnic Orthodox people (who will tell you how it is). I think eventually those who go this route create a fantasy version of the "mystical East" in their minds that, if it ever ran up against the reality of the actual East, would crumble quickly.
@HHS3239@maksimologija@BashlinCore It's definitely true. They're covering it up but it's referenced twice here happened in March

“Orthodoxy in America, if left to itself, will simply turn into an ‘Eastern-rite Protestantism’ - that is, it will retain some of the externals of Orthodoxy, but inwardly will be scarcely different from the worldly Protestantism which is the predominant religion of America.”
@HHS3239 If you debate Jay Dyer, this is exactly how he operates. He doesn’t make a positive argument for his claims. He just challenges and refutes others (negative case).
