@notheydontcare The system is not set up to reward positive outcomes so mediocre and bad teachers slide by for years. Even some of the good ones question why they even care to work so hard when there is no financial incentive to do well.
@OuizerTeacher This happened to me one year and we were basically all yelled at by the principal. The following year, she made us take the survey all together while she walked around and monitored us. Ugh
@educator4ever36 I think cute decor outperforms some of the piles, cluttter, and mess I’ve seen in some secondary classrooms. 🤣 Yuck! I keep my very minimal and homey with plants and rotate student work throughout the year as we finish units.
It’s CRAZY to me that people aren’t immediately starstruck just by existing on this planet.
Like how do you not want to completely and utterly dedicate your whole self to this? The pursuit of it, and its genuine raw strength…
@tchrscurriculum My goal is to make every student feel like they’re my favorite. However, I do try to go out of my way to acknowledge and build relationships the kids that are always quiet and compliant. They often fly under the radar for years.
@anenglishteachr I teach 8th grade science and give out treasure box tickets. This is particularly effective if you have a sub - I just leave them with some of the tickets to pass out for rewards and the students can cash them in for a prize the next day.
Yall just look at my mom’s beautiful zinnias after the slow moving rain showers today.
Literally the best our garden has ever looked! We also have a native coreopsis species blooming in the planter!
@FixingEducation I have to agree - half days seem completely wasted. The kids are amped up and schedules are all off. Very minimal learning occurs. It just makes more sense to consolidate two half days and give a whole day off in exchange.
@DanaPalubiak I guess the teacher should wake up earlier to go by and pick this student up, knock on the door repeatedly when no one is awake at home, give him a ride to school, walk him to each one of his classes, and then drop by his house again to make sure he’s at bed before 1AM?
