With Deepest Sympathy on the Loss of Nkanu
I have been following Nkanu's illness since my beloved sister, Chimamanda, first informed me on January 2nd. During this difficult time, I felt a deep sense of empathy for her and her family. I shared in their anxiety, prayed earnestly, and hoped for his recovery. Therefore, the news I received yesterday morning was profoundly heartbreaking.
I am personally devastated, thinking of the immense pain my dear sister must be experiencing as a mother, along with her husband, Dr Ivara. My heartfelt condolences go to them and the entire family during this moment of indescribable loss. May God grant them the strength, comfort, and grace to bear this sorrow, and may Nkanu's saintly soul rest in perfect peace. -PO
When will this embarrassment end?
Can we get through a day without troubling news in this country? At a time when Nigerians need joy and unity—something the national football team, the Super Eagles, has been providing by winning matches and lifting our spirits worldwide—these same players are being denied their basic match allowances.
A country that writes off trillions in debts for government agencies and political allies, and squanders money on grandiose, self-serving projects, now struggles to pay the basic match bonuses owed to our players.
Nigeria deserves a better international image than this ongoing failure to honor previously agreed-upon allowances before the tournament. The Super Eagles do not deserve this embarrassment or the avoidable distractions ahead of a crucial quarter-final match. Nigeria must learn to fulfill its obligations.

Prosperity cannot come by taxing Poverty
As I travel the world and meet leaders who have transformed their nations, one lesson is clear: lasting economic and social progress begins with national consensus. Transformative leaders—those who successfully unite their people around a shared vision—share a defining quality: honesty. Government must be transparent and truthful because citizens deserve nothing less from those who lead them. True leaders do not exploit their people to enrich themselves and a few cronies; they build trust, unity, and shared purpose - the foundation of sustainable progress.
It is against this standard of honest leadership that Nigeria’s current approach to taxation must be measured. If taxation is to function as a genuine social contract, it must be rooted in sincerity, fairness, and concern for the welfare of the people. Every tax policy should be clearly explained, including its impact on incomes and its expected contribution to national development. Without this transparency, taxation becomes a tool of confusion and burden rather than a mechanism for growth and development.
Nigeria must rethink taxation if it is serious about economic growth, national unity, and shared prosperity. The purpose of sound fiscal policy is not merely to raise revenue; it is to make the people wealthier so that the nation itself becomes stronger. Yet today, Nigerians are asked to pay taxes without clarity, explanation, or visible benefit.
The solution begins with empowering small and medium-sized enterprises in every community. When small businesses thrive, jobs are created, incomes rise, and the tax base expands naturally. You cannot tax your way out of poverty - you must produce your way out of it.
This makes the ongoing tax fraud saga particularly alarming. For the first time in Nigeria’s history, a tax law has reportedly been forged. The National Assembly itself has admitted that the version gazetted is not what was passed into law. Yet citizens are being asked to pay higher taxes under this manipulated framework—without transparency, without explanation, and without corresponding benefits.
There is no virtue in celebrating increased government revenue while the people grow poorer. Taxing poverty does not create wealth; it deepens hardship. Any tax system that makes citizens poorer violates the fundamental principles of good governance and sound fiscal policy.
Nigeria needs a fair, lawful, and people-centred tax system—one that supports production, rewards enterprise, protects the vulnerable, and restores trust between government and citizens. Only then can taxation become a true tool for unity, growth, and shared prosperity. -PO
God has been kind to me. As I mark another birthday today, I see the hands of God everywhere in my life. God has been kind to me from conception to birth and till date. I am a living proof of the mercies and faithfuness of God. Without God I am nothing. He is my anchor and main stay. He has kept me with undeniable proofs of his love upon my life all these years.
The story of my birth was as excruciating as the stories of the journey of my life. But in all God’s mercies and faithfulness are too evident and undeniable in my life. For the past 66 years God has been so kind, merciful and generous to me. When all hopes were gone God always showed up for me. He never left me in a second. God is always there for me. When those who should be there for me abandoned me, God has not abandoned me and will not abandone me.
When I look back in the journey of my life, I cannot but be grateful to God. By the plans of the devil I should not have been born alive. For three whole days my mother was in agony of labour to give birth to me. In all these things God who knew my end from the beginning kept me. The hands of God has been so visible that even those who wished me bad things cannot deny the grace and mercies of God upon my life. It is God's doing that I am alive today.
Today at 66 years on this planet earth I have every reason to be grateful. God never left me. He sees my heart. I believe in his word and promises in Isaiah 41:10. He said to me: Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
God has been kind to me. Happy birthday to me. I shall live long in good health and happiness in the name of Jesus. I am breaking new ground. It is my year of open door and when God open doors for me nobody can close it. It is not my fault. It is God’s doing and it is marvelous in my sights. Lord I am grateful for this day in my life.
If there were any remaining doubts that Christians in Nigeria are being targeted for their faith in Jesus Christ, this should end that debate.
This isn’t about land usage, “climate change,” or any other argument the Left wants to make. This is persecution of our brothers and sisters for their faith in Christ, plain and simple.
ISIS is telling Christians they have an opportunity to "spare their blood" if they convert. Our brothers and sisters will not bend the knee to anyone but our Lord and Savior though.
Thankfully, @POTUS is continuing to work in cooperation with the Nigerian government to stop these Islamic radicals and defend our brothers and sisters in Christ.
New Year: A Call for Unity, Truth, Sacrifice, and National Renewal
As we enter the New Year, let it symbolize a genuine new beginning for our nation—a time for sober reflection and renewed determination. May this be the year we take our democracy seriously, not just as a ritual of elections, but as a daily commitment to unity, justice, accountability, compassion, and the rule of law. Let it signal the start of a true rebirth for Nigeria, a year when we gather the courage to confront our shortcomings honestly and begin to build a broad national consensus based on integrity, fairness, and shared sacrifice.
We call on those in positions of authority to rediscover the sacred duty of truth-telling—about their backgrounds, intentions, policies, actions, and even their health. Leadership thrives on trust, and trust is only possible with honesty. Let this year be one where public office is seen as a solemn call to service rather than a platform for personal enrichment, and where public resources are managed with transparency, discipline, and a deep sense of responsibility to both current and future generations.
May this New Year also be a time for compassion and sacrifice, where we consciously put the needs of the poor, the weak, and the forgotten at the center of our national conscience. A nation is not defined by the grandeur of its celebrations but by the dignity of life it offers its citizens. Therefore, let us prioritize a better standard of living over elaborate funerals; let us invest more in hospitals than in hearses, more in schools than in slogans, and more in jobs and productivity than in extravagance and waste.
Above all, may this year renew our collective resolve to create a Nigeria that truly works for all—just in its laws, productive in its economy, united in its diversity, and humane in its treatment of every citizen.

The era of negotiations & pampering of terrorists is over. I expect every state governor, along with all state security chiefs & military commanders, to launch a full-scale war against terrorism. We must not provide terrorists or any violent groups a chance to survive in Nigeria.
NASS just confirmed that Tinubu forged the new tax laws.
Forge school certificates, forge identity, enter power and still come dey forge laws.
Once a forger, always a forger.
The @nassnigeria has now conceded that the #ForgedTaxLaws were truly forged. Their response is to claim powers to "regazette" the duly passed version.
The records shd be clear: The @nassnigeria has no power to order a "regazetting" of an already gazetted document claiming to be a duly passed law. This is heaping unlawfulness upon criminality.
There are 2 ways to achieve this goal. One, they can table the gazetted legislation before the NASS repeal it formally & replace it with the duly passed one which is then sent to be gazetted.
Two, they can take the thing in the Gazette to the courts to be struck down & then have it replaced.
Whichever course they choose, those who forged the law shd be identified & brought to account. The people deserve that.
