Ricardo Gerstl joined the Crypto Valley Conference, where one thing was clear: digital assets are moving further into the institutional arena.
𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁:
First, the convergence of TradFi and DeFi is accelerating. The conversation is shifting from experimentation to real market infrastructure, execution, liquidity, custody, and capital efficiency.
Second, tokenization and real-world assets are becoming a serious capital markets topic. From on-chain treasury to tokenized assets and stablecoins, institutions are increasingly looking at blockchain as infrastructure, not just an asset class.
Third, trust, security, and resilience are now central. Whether around Bitcoin, custodians, AI, quantum risk, or secure financial infrastructure, the industry is clearly maturing around governance and institutional-grade standards.
What stood out most was the level of institutional interest: banks, market infrastructure providers, payment networks, custodians, asset managers, and foundations are no longer observing from the sidelines. They are actively shaping where the next phase of digital finance is going.
Exciting to see Crypto Valley continue to play such an important role in that evolution.

Michiel, Dennis and Hugo were at the Global RegTech Summit in London yesterday, where Cense was proud to sponsor and join the conversation on how compliance infrastructure is fundamentally changing.
For years, fintech in banking has been heavily human-driven and largely perceived as a cost center: fragmented workflows, manual reviews, endless escalation layers, and disconnected tooling. That model is changing fast.
AI is transforming compliance from reactive operations into orchestrated intelligence. Instead of relying on one monolithic platform, banks are moving toward AI-driven ecosystems where specialized point solutions are triggered exactly when needed.
This is where companies like Cense come in. As financial institutions increasingly handle digital assets and crypto-related activity, the need for real-time, specialized compliance capabilities becomes critical. Rather than embedding every capability internally, banks can now dynamically activate focused solutions the moment crypto exposure is detected.
The future of RegTech is not bigger systems. It’s smarter orchestration.
It was exciting to meet founders, banks, regulators, and innovators shaping this next generation of financial infrastructure here in London.

𝗪𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗿𝘆𝗽𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗸. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.
Banks do not just need to detect crypto-related activity. They need to understand what it means: where funds originated, how transaction behaviour aligns with the client profile, and whether onboarding decisions are safe, fast and defensible.
That is the thinking behind Detect & Decode: the approach we designed to turn fragmented crypto activity into bank-ready compliance intelligence. From fiat-side indicators to full portfolio reconstruction. From isolated signals to a clear and substantiated compliance narrative.
Because in crypto compliance, detection is only the beginning.

AI is powerful, but when it comes to offboarding or flagging crypto clients, certainty matters. In FEC, decisions must be explainable, auditable, and grounded in logic. That’s why automation can support workflows, but core analysis must stay deterministic.
In episode 5, Cense CSO @hugoleijtens breaks down what it takes to move from compliance to capability. Laying out how institutions can build crypto readiness across compliance, business, and tech.

Last week Ricardo represented Cense at the NextGen Payments & RegTech Forum in Zurich. A day full of insightful discussions on where financial services are heading.
𝗔 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁
AI is rapidly shifting the knowledge balance in financial services. It’s no longer only institutions becoming smarter, clients are too. Customers are increasingly informed, faster to question decisions, and more aware of how financial systems work.
Another strong theme was 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗜. We’re moving beyond simple models toward systems that can support complex areas such as compliance and financial crime investigation. The challenge now isn’t capability, but governance, explainability, and ensuring humans remain meaningfully in the loop.
Finally, the evolving 𝗦𝘄𝗶𝘀𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 horizon was a key topic. With growing focus on AI governance, operational resilience and AML transparency, it’s clear firms will need to prepare proactively rather than react once regulation lands.
Great panels, valuable conversations and good networking along the way. We’ll be watching closely how these ideas move from discussion to implementation over the next 12–24 months.

Cense is a spinout of @glassnode, built on the same advanced on-chain analytics foundations. But today we operate as a fully independent company with a singular focus: decoding complexity in crypto compliance.
Where @glassnode focuses on market behavior, we focus on risk behavior. Our platform analyzes centralized exchange wallets and DeFi wallets using transparent, deterministic rules that generate consistent, auditable, regulator-ready risk profiles.
Because in compliance, every conclusion must be explainable. And defensible. Read the full story: https://t.co/ztKl7edHte

Great to have had Michiel and Dennis represent Cense at the Web3 Banking Symposium from Crypto Valley Association.
The industry conversation has clearly evolved: from innovation and experimentation to concrete business cases and AUM discussions.
It’s no longer about if Web3 integrates into banking. It’s about timing. And execution. As institutional adoption accelerates, a robust compliance layer becomes essential to responsibly capture this industry. Cense provides the crypto compliance stack needed to make that transition scalable, defensible and regulator-ready. Working alongside transaction monitoring partners, we extend the scope to full crypto AML portfolio scanning bringing clarity where complexity used to dominate.

Michiel joined the conversation at the Digital Assets Forum in London. One shift was unmistakable. We’re no longer debating if institutions will engage with digital assets. The real question is: 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻-𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆?
Digital assets are moving into the institutional core. And that transition requires more than ambition. It requires:
• Clear regulatory guardrails
• Institutional-grade infrastructure
• Security by design
• Advanced analytics
• A compliance layer built to scale
This is the industry’s next phase. Not experimentation. Execution, and execution demands collaboration across the ecosystem.
It was great to see Daniel Blackmore from our sister company @glassnode on stage, alongside many others shaping the next chapter of institutional digital assets.
