@GohilHardy Did he choose the language or you? I couldn't tell you the syntax of a JS function off the top of my head - not now and not before AI unless I was actively working in it.

It's senseless to carry the particulars of 30 languages in your head when it's 1 Google search away.

@theo When I was in your situation, I resorted to single index finger typing on the left hand. It's actually not as bad as it sounds. Once you kind of get the hang of it. I mean it's bad but maybe not as bad as this I don't know

@kapilansh_twt Google is missing the ability to improve their existing products.

They seem to always come out with a new product very strong, then basically either leave it as is, or retire it.

They make incremental changes, but always seem afraid of adding big risks to working products.

@SBenhoff I got a call back for a job I applied for while delivering subs. I immediately pulled over, rolled up the windows, and turned off my van because it was too loud.

I didn't realize it was a full phone interview. It was August in Florida. Surprised I didn't get heat exhaustion.

@Carnage4Life IMO this is a really bad take. Don't demonize those making better salaries, instead insist that others should also have decent salaries.

The injustice here is the separation between rich and poor - $1M doesn't even get you into the elite 1% earners these days.

@dmokafa I have. It sounds like, "This took me over 2x longer to write because of the stupid tests." Or "I just had to make one simple change but it broke like 20 tests."

FYI, both of these indicate problems beyond just tests

@reverentgeek Yep, works great. You just have to have devs that don't do stupid crap like bypass the ORM by sending raw statements/depending on server side functions. We had integration tests that used SQLite to validate our ORM usage wasn't too fancy
