Happy to share with you good news from Hargeisa, Somaliland. The first time Hargeisa group hospital and the university of Hargeisa launched together the first orthopedic residency program in Somaliland. I am glad to be one of the Orthopedic residents.

As usual I was the only female in the #COVID__19 regional meeting, after finalising the action points and the officials was sharing it in male panel they called me “ for gender balance mariam join us” this reminded me what @Inaguruguru said about “ tokenism & window dressing”
She was beautiful in and out RIP Dr Hawa Abdi AUN a heroine who helped thousands of people in Somalia by giving shelter and care 💔💔 my condolences to @dwaqaf and all the family we are all feeling you and my thoughts with you in this difficult time 🙏 WE WILL MISS YOU MAM
It took me 7 years to get here, graduation from medical school is not an easy feat. The journey seems long and hard at the beginning, But now I wear a white coat with dignity and pride. Alhamdulillah, now I am officially a doctor.

Kharash and his colleagues have been utilizing this program to raise awareness on COVID-19 through sign language in order to achieve their goal of disseminating information to people with disabilities who have been neglected.
