Scaling up response means moving closer to where needs are greatest.
Today, @IFRC and @Croix_Rouge_RDC surge teams travelled from Bunia to Mongbwalu, at the centre of the evolving #Ebola outbreak in Ituri, to strengthen readiness, coordination, and scale up community-based response efforts.
With @ICRC complementarity, teams are reinforcing surveillance, community engagement, trusted information, and safe and dignified burials to help contain transmission from the earliest stages.
In complex environments, effective response depends on acting early, staying close to communities, and working coherently across the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

Heatwaves can be deadly.
On this #HeatActionDay, we celebrate the incredible work of Red Cross and Red Crescent volunteers across Africa who are raising awareness and sharing simple ways to #BeatTheHeat.
In Burkina Faso, between April and May, as temperatures rose, @CroixRougeBF reached over 40,000 people in five major towns with life-saving heat safety information, including elderly people and pregnant women.
In coordination with the Ministry of Health, more than 700 people were also referred to health facilities — helping protect those most at risk.
On #HeatActionDay, we are reminded that access to safe drinking water is essential for communities facing rising temperatures and drought.
The Somali Red Crescent Society, with support from the @IFRC Emergency Appeal and the local community, has upgraded the Shilin Xarare borehole in Jariban district, improving reliable water access for over 3,000 households and their livestock.
This is heat action in practice: helping communities stay safer, healthier and more resilient.
The IFRC and @RedcrossSa today convened diplomatic partners and key stakeholders for a Diplomatic Breakfast in Pretoria, South Africa, under the Global Climate Resilience Platform.
This engagement aims to advance collaboration, investment and collective action for climate resilience across Southern Africa.
As climate-related disasters continue to intensify — stronger partnerships between humanitarian actors, governments and the private sector are critical to strengthening preparedness, protecting vulnerable communities and building long-term resilience.

The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is escalating, with cases spreading across provinces and into neighbouring Uganda.
The @IFRC_DREF has already mobilized CHF 2 million to support the Red Cross of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in responding to the outbreak.
In Uganda, where a Bundibugyo Ebola Virus Disease outbreak has been confirmed, an additional CHF 521,073 has been allocated through the IFRC-DREF to support preparedness and response efforts over the next six months.
This support will help strengthen community-based surveillance, risk communication and community engagement, infection prevention and control, safe and dignified burials, psychosocial support and emergency referrals.
Together, these DREF operations are helping communities access reliable health information, detect cases early, reduce transmission risks and protect vulnerable people from the health and socio-economic impacts of Ebola.
