@owenjonesjourno@iambeerd The concept of apology is multi-faceted. As a Christian I have no issue apologising for the actions of people that claim the same faith as I do. It's not a personal responsibility for their actions but to an extent a communal one. Or should parents not apologise for children?
@PaulSmithmcfc@themagic_tophat Not sure calling out cheating until it finally gets dealt with counts as an obsession. More like commitment to fairness... even the rational wing of your own tiny fan base concedes you cheated and are awaiting punishment
@AriDavidPaul@JoelWBerry Why would you expect God to prioritise efficiency? Without a vast universe with a vast time span for things to develop, it's harder to accept our own insignificance, and easier to wonder at a God that nevertheless finds us not just significant but loves us.
@tbc0 Failure to acknowledge the small number of good things bad people do also makes it easier for those same people to wriggle out of the large number of bad things they do. This failure is not unique to the democratic party though. In fact it's become a near universal epidemic.
@tbc0 Bitcoin is not one of them. I respect the initial vision and what it began. It had a key function an initial symbolic fulfilment of a Hayekian idea. But I detest what it has become. Quite honestly for me it is now a symbol of a different kind of rottenness. As are most cryptos
@tbc0 I'm not pissed with crypto per se. I applaud the initial idea of borderless currency resistant to state and institutional influence. I have long advocated and volunteered for one particular crypto called Nano. But I think at most 20 cryptos with any useful function exist.
@Mr_Andrew_Fox@JockGlasgow@israelnewspulse Again, I am more likely to trust people who are getting shouted at and praised by both sides. As stated above I have more often than not found this is an indication of truth-seeking character although neither that nor the inverse would I carelessly state as universally accurate.
@JockGlasgow@Mr_Andrew_Fox@israelnewspulse I have more time for people who demonstrate this willingness than people who religiously adhere to a predefined group ideology.
@JockGlasgow@Mr_Andrew_Fox@israelnewspulse Maybe he just isn't captured by either left or right ideologically and simply says what he thinks is true... For me when he says things he knows will upset people who just agreed and supported him on another issue, shows integrity is more important to him than pandering to groups
@NeckPinch@Mr_Andrew_Fox@israelnewspulse Don't jump to general conclusions about me due to this correction but the analogy does not hold up. It is always a war crime if you bomb a hospital with the PRIMARY objective of disrupting its intended function as a hospital, even a military hospital! Same with power plants!
@Mr_Andrew_Fox@reportingLibya I appreciate that rock, hard place is the succinct version of your answer to this, but why- if that is what you think- would you argue that allowing Iran nukes is favourable to the (clearly also negative) consequences of this war. Genuine and non- loaded truth seeking question.
@KonstantinKisin Mostly agree- it's unlikely we all die. But it does seem somewhat different to other situations. Reading between the lines: 1) This could take a while. 2) as Trump implied it could well involve boots on the ground. 3) it likely has wider implications for international politics.
@Mr_Andrew_Fox@middletonmark1 I don't think that that's the only reason that he would be unelectable but it's important that this is mentioned and settled before other matters when people vote. It's the same reasoning that should be applied to AFD in germany where I now live. Elon wildly wrong to back either
@BenGreenJeru Whilst I agree that Gary is wrong- the most generous take is he is tunnel visioned- he has a strong moral conviction to stand up to perceived injustice. If someone like that believes the lies then the reaction is expected. Damagingly wrong but should affect tone of our response
@ColinLeMahieu@ganyicz Even if you take what AI is best at- languages- the end product still reads like AI. It's obviously better in some ways than most people could achieve, which is already worrying. But it's not yet better on its own than an above average author or playwright or essayist.
@ColinLeMahieu@ganyicz I'm not going to bet against solutions being found to this although in the meantime they are stalling more than they let up. Will still need human coders just less. In almost all areas I've seen AI used-at a high level the end product is only as good as the human guiding it.
@ColinLeMahieu@SenSanders To answer about Bernie. I think like many socialists he is an ideologue which is always a precarious thing to be if history teaches us anything. I think it's important to concede that his criticisms are often fair. But as you say it's the solutions which are usually the problem.
