Curious how place cells adapt to uncertainty in reward location? We found that predictable changes boost “reward place cells” & warp hippocampal maps. Check out our new preprint: with @EuruswindFeng, Jack Mellor, Peter Dayan and Daniel Dombeck

Thrilled to see our TinyRNN paper in @nature! We show how tiny RNNs predict choices of individual subjects accurately while staying fully interpretable. This approach can transform how we model cognitive processes in both healthy and disordered decisions. https://t.co/rgGoEcL26Y
Congratulations! 🤗🎉Truly delighted that Rajula Srivastava, early-career mathematician at the University of Bonn & the Max Planck Institute for #Mathematics, is honoured w/ the 2025 Maryam Mirzakhani New Frontiers Prize for her work in harmonic analysis & number theory!
RT appreciated: We have a fully funded PhD position in @CompNeuro_lab (at TU Dresden). You can use https://t.co/lHh6MqLrBL to send your application and find more information. The deadline is April 30. Find more about CMC lab: https://t.co/dyHsfnQ30V and email me if you have Qs.
@wisdom_in_op@EuruswindFeng Most results consider the peaks of each cells calcium transient along a virtual reality track. We also had looked at correlations, cosine similarity, and GLMs. Hope this answers your question, happy to chat more.

We find: 1. the reward place cells follow the reward on a trial-by-trial basis 2. regular change in reward location induces a higher reward place cell population and 3. regularity is represented in hippocampal networks via warped metrics that link salient events.
We find:

Our study reveals how place cell calcium activity responds when the reward location changes suddenly and compares groups of mice trained to different degrees of predictability of the reward.
I'm collecting some information about the timing of DFG Emmy Noether application (e.g., how long the review took). Could you please help me fill it (if you did, successfully or unsuccessfully), or spread it around (retweet)? Thanks in advance!

it's fellowship szn!
I spent *a lot* of time applying for postdocs + independent positions last year, and I want to share my notes.
In this doc, I list deadlines, pay, and other 🔑 info on bio/theory positions I considered.
DM me for advice anytime.

1/ 🚨 Thrilled to share the final version of our paper in @eLife! Both LC & VTA pathways release dopamine in CA1, but how might they uniquely modulate CA1 activity? Using VR, we imaged these pathways in mice to uncover their distinct roles. https://t.co/XMs628hf6t #Neuroscience

An honour and *absolute delight* bouncing ideas with these brilliant women: @debyeeneuro@danamsmall@rikepetzschner
What are primary reward signals and where do they come from?
