Help save the Beacon Ponds Little Tern project! The colony is in desperate need for funds to make sure that it is protected this coming breeding season. This colony is very close to me as I have spent many hundreds if not thousands of hours working day and night to protect it...
A gorgeous foggy sunrise this morning, Pallas's Warbler in the afternoon and an incredible Starling murmuration this evening. What a day!

A spontaneous dash up to Spurn for the Black-faced Bunting earlier this week certainly paid off, with great views of the bird on a couple of occasions.

The birding over the last week or so has been dominated by Chiffchaffs, and we have had two birds already bearing rings caught at the Observatory.
The green lined bird was ringed at Ballymacoda, Cork on 12th September travelling 625km, before being caught at Dungeness on 30th.
We've been having incredible numbers of Swallow, Sand Martin and House Martin passing through @DungenessBO lately, with thousands of birds gathering over the point before heading out across the channel.
An amazing 82 Sooty Shearwaters have flown west past the Fishing Boats by 9am, mostly very distant. Also two Balearic and a Manx Shearwater. @BirdGuides
A thoroughly enjoyable #migfest2025 spent with @SBO_Jason at @spurnbirdobs. Thousands of Meadow Pipits, skeins of Pink-footed Geese, hurindines and swifts on the move, Osprey, Red-necked Phalarope and plenty of familar faces. Migration at its finest!
At least two Euro Storm Petrels off the seawatching hide this evening, last being seen heading very slowly west as the light dwindled. At least one other was seen off the Fishing Boats this morning too @BirdGuides
My first Rustic Bunting!
After an otherwise slow start following a week of strong winds, it was fantastic to spot this in a bush and then get a closer look when it later ended up in a net.
