26 years ago, when I was starting with charting/trading and investments if someone gave me this advice, I would thank him/her every single day:
Print this chart. Put it on your desk.
Expand your research/investment universe.
Look for only 1 setup. The setup that is on this chart.
Go and look for this setup, if possible, across 2000 charts.
All your trades will be executed through this basic chart pattern setup.
When you revisit the charts you will be able to identify the setup you traded again and again.
You can thank me later. Don't forget to print it.
@FatNegan Seeing it is not enough. It need to materialize with a breach below the neckline. There are many cases of failed H&S tops especially in steady uptrends well above the year-long average.
I believe patience is what truly sets good traders apart. Patience to wait for the right market conditions before becoming aggressive. Patience to identify high-quality setups. Patience to let those setups trigger, rather than jumping in early. Patience to trust the stop-loss and let the trade play out without interference. And finally, patience to allow the stock’s natural movement to unfold, giving the trade the time it needs to work.
None of these things are easy because they go against human nature. Waiting for the right conditions requires resisting the urge to act or playing small, even when the market is tempting or noisy. Holding off until a setup triggers means overcoming impatience and the fear of missing out. Trusting a stop-loss demands accepting that losses are part of the process, without trying to control or avoid them. Letting a trade unfold naturally challenges the instinct to tinker, take quick profits, or cut a winner short out of fear it might reverse.
Trading tests discipline, emotional control, and the ability to stick to a process despite uncertainty. It’s hard because success comes not from constant action, but from deliberate, patient decisions—qualities that most people find difficult to master in a fast-moving, high-stakes environment.
