@inlvedhail@jaxonloid My problem with 4 is that's its realistic too its detriment. The characters feel like very repetitive mob boss type characters, and every single agonizing mission is like tailing someone in a car slowly and then executing them at the end. There just isn't enough variety imo
@GenghisConnThr3 Tell me about it- and the thing is, almost every time there's an exception to that rule the game ends up being one of my favorites. Metroid Dread and DK Tropical Freeze are such amazing titles. And sometimes, they can nail balance PERFECTLY but rarely do they even try.
@Beeburn22 Represents this well. The gunplay is incredibly basic, but I've never played another game where you burn down a weed farm with a flame thrower, control a remote control airplane, and steal a jetpack from a government base. All while witnessing god tier cutscenes in between
@Beeburn22 Somewhat recently got into them, and that's the thing, like sure the gameplay itself isn't exactly the greatest out there. But it sells itself on the experiences, the character interactions, and the action set pieces/ variety in mission concepts. I think GTA San Andreas (1/2)
@AezonVirtuous (2/2) the type of thing for me personally where how it comes together as a whole is what sells it. Maybe it's not non stop pure 10 out of 10 gameplay like Donkey Kong Country but it works because of the variety and character interactions.
@AezonVirtuous Even as somebody that is usually gameplay first, I can't lie that after playing this series starting with San Andreas, continuing to do missions and experience the really entertaining dialogue and scenarios is just fun idk. Gameplay-wise I get that it's simplistic but it's (1/2)
@ZeldaLoreYT I think it's alright. I'd say the biggest issues are the simplicity of most of the dungeons, and the very slow "explaining that you need to go here next" type of dialogue. But despite this it was fairly fun
@snailm0der@puppycelebrity The level design and controls feel like such a massive step down and then you add on the fact that the content reset back to zero and that the "single player" actually had the potential to carry the game and stand out but it's instead completely pointless and empty
@frostalgia@BluSatire I've said this before. After spending time with Mario Kart World the game wasn't even worth 50 dollars to me. What Rockstar is doing with this game's editions is hella scummy but I think there's a lot more of a chance here that the content will be more worthwhile than MKW
@bizlet7 It's really funny how I'm shorter than this and at a period of time where I was doing extremely intense cardio and eating hardly anything at all best I could get down to was like 170 or something
@ClockworkStatue@Thatisdiffi Tons of stuff I always mention, but the overall the biggest issue that there is nothing substantial to overcome. It's all disconnected repetitive micro challenges and no meat. Hardly any worthwhile and interesting side quests, copy paste loot and enemies, everything is pointless
@Space_ious This is one of the only sonic games I can think of that I had the desire to replay literally dozens and dozens of times. It's just like the perfect game to plow through
@big_gax_@farcinogen@redaction In my eyes base Mario Kart 8 without even the original dlc tracks on Wii U easily clears World and it's not even close. Every track in the game was designed carefully and the only one I disliked was the new rainbow road. Huge contrast to how over half of World's are trash
@redaction@jumpingguy7 amateurish course design and it makes for a sanitized and boring game. Ppl have given me flack for saying I prefer base MK8's graphics by citing that the character animations/ models are improved but imo the overall art design of the world in 8 is way more exciting. (2/2)
@redaction@jumpingguy7 Im of the opinion that density and detail is far less than MK8 base tracks-more basic textures and less background elements. Add on that the lighting in the game is unbelievably flat and bland compared to the specifically staged lighting in that game and and the very (1/2)
@gtfrk@Shamaboy11 Exactly. The digging mechanic has no legs because it is the same at the beginning of the game as it is in the second half. Only difference is digging speed. There's no room for the depth to increase because it's too simplistic. Level backdrops are also largely meaningless.
@scratchycatty@Shamaboy11 An attempt to translate DKC into 3d. Nintendo have never really attempted this, would be cool to see them try and pull it off instead of doing "win for free optional collectibles open world simulator sandbox number 3 or 4"
@AlloyAmi008@Shamaboy11 Like think about it: Nintendo has never really attempted a high precision 3d platform before, would be cool to actually seen them try and get levels as dynamic as those in Tropical Freeze in a 2d setting. I think tight platforming/ set pieces should make a come back.
@AlloyAmi008@Shamaboy11 I think especially with so many Nintendo franchises doing this similar open ended, everything is optional skip everything, gameplay comes down to just holding a direction on the stick stuff this should've been a big budget attempt to translate DKC platforming into 3d.
