Some people were born into premium membership.

The rest of us were born into “figure it out yourself.”

I was the youngest in my family, yet somehow ended up helping to carry responsibilities that should have belonged to my older siblings.

So imagine my confusion recently.

I gave my daughter access to my Apple Pay with a daily spending limit. As a professional spender, she normally treats limits as opening negotiations. 😭

Then suddenly her spending reduced.

No arguments.

No appeals.

No attempts to convince me that every purchase was an emergency.

I became suspicious.

My first thought was not spiritual.

It was: “Which boy has entered this equation?” 😂

After my investigation, I discovered the real culprit.

Her brother had quietly issued her a debit card linked to his account.

No daily limit.

No interrogation.

No budget committee meeting.

Just spend and go. 😭😭😭

I looked at them and thought, “God, I was born in the wrong generation.”

But it also reminded me of something serious.

Many young women grow up without financial support, protection, or a safety net. Sometimes that pressure pushes them into relationships and situations they would never have considered if their basic needs were already covered.

There is a lot of power in knowing someone has your back. Not everybody is fortunate enough to grow up with that privilege. And those who do should never take it for granted. ❤️
