@JohnHolder64994@BustosWill@dccommonsense It’s not insane to view Trump as the ugly face of a corrupt 2 party system, or a natural progression of the same. Many people would view Biden’s sycophantic support for a genocidal regime as pretty on par with what Trump is doing. Not that any of that is where Dan is coming from
@tparsi@robertwrighter Bob, I (along with many others I’m sure!) am eagerly awaiting to hear your thoughts on the Venezuela invasion, above all other news outlets! Are you going to drop a podcast on it?
#Beirut now- Israel is inflicting gratuitous violence on an unarmed population. This is what the EU and the US are supporting, funding, arming, and calling self defense. No words.
Breaking: @SkyNews just deleted this video by their Amsterdam correspondent @AlicePorterTV posted to Twitter, without public explanation. I saved a copy.
The video explains the truth about the Israeli football hooligans who went on a racist rampage in the city this week. Watch:
Israel is now bombing Baalbek in Lebanon, striking near the ancient Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage site that has stood for over 11,000 years.
Israel, an entity not even 80 years old, is now threatening to erase a cornerstone of human history.
BREAKING:
57 Arab and Muslim countries offer Israel a PEACE DEAL.
Guaranteed security in exchange for a Palestinian state and an end of occupation.
The Jordanian FM expresses the Arab world is ready for peace but Israel refuses.
Palestinian journalists have been targeted for bringing the world the truth, like never before.
They are risking their lives to show the world apartheid, murder, war crime and genocide.
Mainstream media’s silence makes them complicit.
This is a crucial reminder by Stephen Walt, probably the most renowned Harvard professor of International Relations: "Palestinian resistance is completely legitimate" because "international law explicitly says that population under belligerent occupation have a right to resist".
@paulbloomatyale@NonzeroPods@robertwrighter There are 20 books in the Aubrey Maturin series, the movie is based off 3 or 4 of them but each book is an epic on its own! Captain Aubrey is based on a real guy too, Thomas Cochrane.
I’d like to talk about my Dad.
He came to England from India at age 17.
He had a brutal childhood- he’s refused to talk us kids about it but part of his childhood involved living on the streets as a child in India
Coming to England saved his life. Literally.
He has worked - shop keeper, then taxi driver & has contributed to tax his whole life here. He refused to charge people for his taxi service when they visited hospitals, students who felt unsafe walking at night etc. He worked 7 days a week, and we lived month to month.
My Mum, at the age of 64, still works full
time as an insurance broker & has also paid tax her entire working life.
My Dad retired at the age of 70 during the pandemic as he was diagnosed with cancer. Thankfully he’s currently in remission 🙏
As soon as he was given the “all clear” he could finally pursue his dream - to feed those in need.
At the age of 70 he asked my Mum to teach him how to cook.
Every Tuesday he buys food to feed about 100/200 homeless people a week. He wakes up at 3am every Wednesday to cook the food, package & distribute it with a team of volunteers who also provide them warm clothing, cut their hair etc with nothing but love.
The volunteers are from all backgrounds, all colours, all ethnicities as are the people they serve.
He is the kindest, most compassionate person I know. To have people judge him based on the colour of his skin breaks my heart beyond measure.
@JayEnglandshire@Rochdale45@TashRoger@cpeedell@Dougaldandy1 You think forcing Africans to stay in Africa is the non-racist position? And by the way, there’s plenty of non-white people for them to treat in the uk, so you needn’t be concerned about that.
In terms of Imane Khalif having a “biological advantage” let’s discuss Michael Phelps.
Phelps has:
- Double jointed elbows & knees
- A hyperextended thorax
- 50% less lactic acid production than the average competitor
And yet, no one ever said he had a biological advantage.
@IrvineWelsh Isn’t this just what weight classes are about? We see people fight with vastly different physiques within the weight range all the time and see that physique is just one of many factors in who wins.
