It's been a great week at the National Military Fish and Wildlife Association training! Thank you to all presenters, vendors, and organizations! @DoDNatRes
@highscicomm Central coastal California- mountain lion. On occasion I'll refer to them as a cougar or puma, especially when talking to people new to the area or doing sci comm outreach to make sure everyone knows we are talking about the same animal.
Mass mortalities washing up on beaches, lobsters and crabs dying in pots, lobster and crab eggs dissolving. Fair to say it’s been a concerning year along the Northeast coast. TODAY universities release their research findings, a thread 🧵1/8
Please RT. I'm recruiting a PhD student who will study mammals and their relationships to prey species. The student will work with a range of data types including stable isotope data, data from GPS collars, and image processing of video. Email by Oct 15

Go through this thread. Representation matters. Knowing other people and their achievements matter. Not just the white men, some of which stole others research and called it their own and are still recognized for it.
Think of how amazing this would be for intro paleontology, biology, and environmental science courses! What student doesn't love a podcast instead of an assigned reading??? 🦖🦕🦣 🌎 Fingers crossed for funding!

@Meganfangirl @sassybibrarian @kidsilkhaze What?!?! This fact I didn't know! I did know that authors who are only publishing through Amazon or audible can't be found in local libraries which is also an issue.
Take a peak through this feed! It's interesting to hear more about rattlesnakes and help demystify them a bit more. Plus there is a link to see baby rattlesnakes!
Some people think pics of rattlesnakes like these are boring. "It's just sitting there!" But this pic actually tells us so much about this fascinating animal. 1/7
Seriously people? The library also lets you listen to audiobooks for free. And if they don't have it, they will often buy it FOR YOU first, you just then need to turn it back in. @YouTube do better and help authors.
Dear alma mater: I would love to give you more money. I really would. But you won’t even give me remote library access. Please consider throwing that in with the alumni perks. I do not care about the special tent at baseball games.
Anyone else find it rude and annoying when on a zoom call and everyone is muted and there is the one person who seems to unmute themselves to cough and then mutes themselves again? Repeatedly.
