"I’ve felt I’ve had a target on my back."
"They will just fire you."
"No one is going to do a damned thing."
These are just a few of the sentiments shared by nurses of different racial and ethnic backgrounds when interviewed by @statnews about experiences with racism, how to make nursing more inclusive, and whether they think change is possible.
This article follows the release of an @RWJF-funded study on racism in the nursing profession, which underscores the mental health toll that may be forcing some from the profession. It also points to the essential and urgent need to disrupt racism in the healthcare system.
The latest survey on racism in nursing is out from @RWJF / @NORCNews. But of course this issue goes well beyond the data, and @ushamcfarling did it justice with real stories that tell the painful lived experience and history of being a nurse of color in this country.
So I wrote about racism in nursing which strikes in some particularly hard and pervasive ways. A new survey out today from @RWJF shows 80% of nurses have seen or experienced racism from patients and 60% have from colleagues. New story and 🧵https://t.co/lH7v5OIKKq

NEW: #COVID19 vaccine uptake among children has stalled & vax rates remain low for young children. As of Nov. 2, 3.2% of children under age 5 and 31.8% of kids ages 5-11 had completed their primary series. Uptake is higher among those ages 12-17, at 61.1% https://t.co/6XfweX5nCr
Everyone enjoying “fall back?”
If the Senate got its way — and the bill they passed in March became law — today would have been the last-ever “fall back.”
But instead, the bill for permanent daylight saving quietly died in the House.
I got curious how that happened. (Thread.)
