A State Funeral Service for the Honourable Ron Boswell took place today at 10.00 am on Friday 16 January 2026 in the Cathedral of St Stephen, 249 Elizabeth Street, Brisbane, Queensland.
From 1999 to 2003 under the Howard government Mr Boswell held the appointment of Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Transport and Regional Services.
From 1990 to 2007 Mr Boswell was the Leader of the Nationals (formally National Party) in the Senate.
Mr Boswell retired from politics in 2014.
In 2020, Mr Boswell was made an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to the Parliament of Australia, to the people of Queensland, and to fisheries research and development.
Throughout his time in Parliament - Ron Boswell was staunch defender of the unborn.
If more people understood basic biology we would have far fewer abortions.
👉A baby is alive from the moment of fertilisation (they are growing).
👉A baby is a human (they're the same species as their parents).
👉A baby's body is distinct from their parents with their own unique DNA.
👉Parents have responsibility for their children both before and after birth, and the killing of one's child violates those responsibilities.
❗️Therefore abortion involves a parent killing their child, who is a distinct and separate, living human being.
Every human being was once unseen.
Before a name. Before a face. Before the world could recognise their worth.
At Cherish Life, we stand for those whose lives are still hidden, still vulnerable, and still immeasurably valuable.
Because unseen doesn’t mean unimportant.
And small doesn’t mean disposable.
If you want #Peace, prepare institutions of peace. This doesn’t refer only to political institutions, whether national or international, but to the entire forum of institutions – educational, economic, and social – that are involved.
The solemnity of the #AscensionOfTheLord turns our gaze heavenward. It also reminds us of the mission Jesus Christ entrusted to us here on earth. May the Holy Spirit help us fulfill it faithfully!
From #Gaza, the cries of parents rise to heaven ever more intensely as they clutch the lifeless bodies of their children, searching for food and shelter from bombs. I renew my appeal to leaders: cease fire, release all hostages, and fully respect international humanitarian law!
The people of Ukraine have been struck by fresh, serious attacks. I assure my prayers for all the victims, especially children and their families. I strongly reiterate my appeal to end the war and to support every initiative for dialogue and peace. Let us #PrayTogether for peace in #Ukraine and wherever war brings suffering.
Just got back from the Pro-Life Rally in Brisbane—what a crowd! Big cheers to Matt Cliff and the team at Cherish Life for running a powerful event. I learned a lot, and it’s heartbreaking what’s happening in Australia.
These little children have truly come last. There’s a serious lack of political will to reduce abortion numbers. We should be offering real choice—more help, more counselling, better support for women and families.
Think tax breaks for young families, extended maternity leave, or even more funding for orphanages. I reckon most Aussies would back that.
Shoutout to DJ Payne, Family First, and all the amazing people standing for life and Aussie families. @djpaine@FamilyAu@CherishLifeQLD

If @AlboMP is really coming back to the faith as he told The Australian newspaper today, he should renounce his pro-abortion policy and commit to Australians that he'll actually protect innocent human life from conception until natural death. If he can't do that, we're not buying it. We see through the shameless election stunt.
Meekness is not weakness; it is strength tempered by love and gentleness.

We had 45 people turn up today to letterbox the seat of Kylie Wilkinson which is the most marginal seat in NSW. There is strong community opposition to the radical Greens bill and even though Wilkinson relied on Greens preferences to win the seat, her community is STRONGLY opposed to this authoritative bill. Not only did so many volunteers turn up to help out with the letterbox, I was stopped by members of the public who had either attended our rally, heard about it at church or seen our socials. This is an issue that her constituents care about and they want action. #blockthebill #minnsmustact
