1000s participating in swimming, rowing, boating, canoeing, fishing, carnival floats, etc, over many weeks of the year; all well established events. The #DeeMile is one of the oldest river swim events in the world! But all that is not allowed to be included.

Along with many others I don’t paddleboard at Sandy Lane because it’s filthy and I’m likely to get ill if I fall in and accidentally swallow some water. If it was cleaner I’d use it regularly.

Drowning risk increases in hot summers. The open water is still much cooler than our natural body temperature, and therefore, you are at risk of cold shock. Enter the water slowly and stay in your depth until acclimatised.
