What a glorious view! Sadly homes are planned to be built in the foreground and the land in front of the treeline allocated for commercial development. The treeline is the remnant of Lower Rouse Copse, ancient woodland south of Newlands Lane with masses of history.
🌳Trees – just make our streets look amazing😎
We spend a lot of time talking about how urban trees help keep us cool, reduce pollution, restore nature, help us adapt to climate change, calm traffic etc
But lets just🥂celebrate how great they look, and how that makes us feel🙂
At the end of busy week I’m reflecting on the highly partial coverage devoted by the media to different issues. Massive coverage this week on a farm demo, but a far larger demonstration on Nature in June got hardly anything. Both about land. Why might that be? https://t.co/2Zj1G1PWr6
Trees transform streets🌳
Next time you're walking along a tree-lined pavement, think for a moment, about how much of a difference they make..
Let's fill ALL our streets with trees

I passed this exuberant, cloud-like ivy bush the other day & noticed it was positively humming with bees & other insects looking for some autumnal food.
We need to stop the war on ivy- it’s a valuable & much-needed native plant.
Thanks to @Forest_Research and @uniofwarwick for Acute Oak Decline training & ongoing research at @HatchlandsNT yesterday. Will be on the lookout for symptoms of this very worrying disease.

Thinking about #LifeInTrees, thanks to this video. From location (natural nests in trees, this nestbox may be in a tree, is made from a tree) to materials (twigs, moss) to food (trees feed lots of insects, in turn feeding birds). Launchpad for life!
Would you give up a couple of parking spaces🚗🚗 if it meant you could have some trees🌳 in your street? 🤔
Often there can be a straight choice - a parking space for a tree. This is particularly so in very narrow streets. It's a point of a lot of debate...
Street trees encourage walking 🌳🚶♂️
Trees make our streets more inviting. When you stroll down a tree-lined avenue, it feels different—more sheltered, more stimulating.
This pleasant environment encourages people to get out and walk or cycle. It’s that simple!
Back in February we said farewell to one of the largest trees on our nursery, our 1750 litre Quercus cerris; and it safely made it's way to The Fenn Bell Conservation Project.
The Binturongs enclosure for this tree is not quite complete but we still wanted to share the progress!
The black & white facts of the #Climate and #Nature emergency are a stark and painful reality!
But the colour and vibrancy of the @RNNMarch still put a smile on our faces, reminding us that where there is action there is hope!

There were lots of excellent chants today, but my favourite chant from today: the simple & heartfelt “More birds, more trees” conveys beautifully what so many of us yearn for & demand
