It was a busy weekend for RHFES, but Chief Raeburn still had time to stop by the Dawoodi Bohras Walkathon and cheer on their incredible community. We’re always grateful for moments like this that bring people together and strengthen connections.
The first long weekend + the unofficial start to summer…and our first heat warning of the season. ☀️ Temps near 30°C with humidex around 36 mean summer has officially arrived. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and enjoy the sunshine safely today!
If you choose to use fireworks at home this Victoria Day:
💦Keep a bucket of water or hose nearby
1️⃣Light one at a time
🚫Never relight duds
🧹Clean up debris once everything has fully cooled
And remember - the safest way to celebrate is to attend a public fireworks display.
A reminder for everyone celebrating the Victoria Day long weekend in Richmond Hill:
🎆 Fireworks are NOT ALLOWED in any City park - including Lake Wilcox Park.
Fires produce toxic, deadly smoke becoming deadly in just 2 minutes. There is no better home protection than fire sprinklers for those at increased risk from fire – the elderly, children and pets. If you build or buy a new home, protect what you value most. #HomeFireSprinklerWeek
Deputy Chief Sornberger is unboxing our Summer Emergency Preparedness Subscription Box.☀️ It may not be real, but it’s important to add these items to your kit. Are you prepared? #EPWEEK
🎇 Fireworks Reminder: In Richmond Hill, fireworks are only allowed Victoria Day, the day before, and the day after. All other times require a permit - and they must be used on your own property only.

Today, on First Responders Day, we gathered to honour and remember the bravery and service of the York Region and Ontario Provincial Police who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you to the strong support of the Survivors of Law Enforcement.
We solemnly acknowledge our debt to the fallen, one we can never repay, but that we can honour by remembering them, and by appreciating their dedication, bravery, and service.
