Before you blame igbo importers for high prices of their goods, understand what they are paying to bring goods into the country.

My business friend recently imported 110 Toyota Highlander and Hyundai Tucson (compact) engines in one 40ft container and paid ₦50 MILLION in duties, terminal+shipping+line and agent charges alone.

Add Government tax, warehouse rent, offloading fee, transport and purchase costs.

Then ask yourself: who is really driving up the cost if not your incompetent government?
