Please allow me to attend to your post with the following:

1. The core logic error: correlation ≠ improvement:
Rising passenger numbers only prove demand, not prosperity. Demand can rise because life got better, "OR" because the alternatives got worse. When roads are unsafe (banditry, kidnapping on highways) and rail is unreliable, flying stops being a luxury choice and becomes the only rational option for anyone who can scrape the fare together. A statistic that's compatible with both "things are improving" and "things are deteriorating" can't be used as one-sided proof of the former.

2. Opportunity cost of the spending:
Naira spent on a plane ticket is naira that isn't:
a. Saved in a bank (which could be lent out to SMEs, boosting real productive capacity)
b. Put toward a first home (asset-building, mortgage market development)
c. Invested in a business
Airlines in Nigeria are heavily import-dependent on jet fuel, aircraft leases, spare parts, insurance, and these are mostly priced in or paid in dollars. So a chunk of that spend leaks out as capital flight rather than circulating domestically. Contrast this with money deposited in a local bank, which has a multiplier effect through lending. "More flights" can coexist with a shrinking pool of loanable domestic capital.

3. Cherry-picked "realities" ignores cheaper explanations:
a. "Trust in the system" - people fly out of necessity, not necessarily trust; desperation isn't confidence.
b."Purchasing power is real" - a 5.9% traffic rise could just as easily reflect price desperation elasticity (people cutting other spending to afford unavoidable flights) rather than genuine income growth. Where's the wage data, inflation-adjusted income data, or savings rate to back this up?
c. "New cohort entering the market" - could also mean former road/rail users being priced/pushed into flying, not new wealth being created.

4. Missing counter-indices:
If flights were really a symptom of broad-based growth, we'd expect corroborating signals: rising savings rates, falling road-insecurity incidents, growing SME lending, rising per-capita income, falling poverty headcount. Citing one upward metric (flight traffic) while ignoring metrics moving the opposite way is selective evidence, not economic analysis.

5. "Oversold flights" cuts the other way too:
Oversold flights and congestion can just as easily indicate undercapacity and poor regulation (too few functional aircraft, route monopolies, weak enforcement of passenger rights) as they can indicate booming demand. In a healthy growing market, supply usually expands to meet demand - airlines add routes/planes. If demand keeps outstripping supply, that's arguably a market failure signal, not a growth badge.

In conclusion Akin, you have conflated "people are flying more" with "people are thriving," when a more defensible read is "people are being forced upward into a more expensive necessity because cheaper alternatives has failed." - under Bola Tinubu.

The airports got full.
