She had the courage to decline the Padma Bushan because she felt she got her recognition 55 years too late. Even South Indians celebrated Asha Bhosle. About 220 kilometers off the coast of Mumbai. 30 August 2010. 6:55 a.m.

A massive wave suddenly crashed over the Indian Navy submarine INS Shankush. In an instant, three sailors were thrown into the raging sea, drifting farther away with every passing second.

Standing watch was Lieutenant Commander Firdaus Mogal, the submarine’s Executive Officer. He didn’t wait. After reporting the incident over the radio, he simply said, “There’s no time. I’m going after them.” Then he plunged into the turbulent waters.

His first act was to rescue an injured sailor hanging alongside the submarine, hauling him to safety. Without hesitation, he then swam with two combat divers toward the three men being carried away by the waves.

One by one, he ensured that everyone else had a chance to survive.

Finally, the rescue rope reached them. Firdaus could have climbed aboard first. Instead, seeing that the two divers were exhausted and drifting away, he made an extraordinary decision. Using his own body as a bridge, he shouted through the crashing waves:

“Climb over me! Get to the submarine!”

The two divers obeyed, stepping over his shoulders to reach safety.

Everyone made it back.

Except him.

Just as Firdaus began pulling himself aboard, the violent swell rolled the 1,800-ton submarine into him, striking his head with devastating force. He was airlifted to a naval hospital, but the injury proved fatal.

That morning, Lieutenant Commander Firdaus Mogal saved the lives of six sailors.

He lost his own.

He was posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakra, but perhaps his greatest legacy was not a medal.

As his wife, Kerzin, later said, “If someone else had died and Firdaus had survived, he would never have forgiven himself.”

Many people wear the rank of a leader.

Very few choose to be the last one to reach safety.

When Shiv Sena sought votes for decades in the name of Hindutva and then formed a government with Congress and NCP just to secure the Chief Minister's chair, wasn't that the biggest betrayal of the mandate?

Millions of Shiv Sainiks and voters stood by the party believing in Balasaheb Thackeray's Hindutva. They didn't vote for an alliance with Congress

If changing ideology for power isn't "gaddari," then what is? The mandate was for a Hindutva alliance, not for abandoning it after the election

I refused to compromise with their ideology ( Congress ) walked away despite the political cost. I sacrificed my positions because I believed principles and ethics matter more than power

Before accusing others of betrayal every day, answer one question honestly: Was abandoning the pre-poll alliance and joining Congress to become Chief Minister not a betrayal of the trust placed by the voters?

Politics should be about principles, not convenience. The people of Maharashtra can judge for themselves who remained committed to ideology and who chose power over it

Modi-hatred is almost a requirement to be called an "intellectual" in some circles. We have to counter them, so let's recall some history.

Congress had left Punjab, Kashmir, Assam all burning. The Naxal menace had made middle India ungovernable. Bihar and UP had become lawless. Bengal stagnated and deteriorated.

Today, Bengal has been rescued from the lawless TMC. For the first time since my childhood, we can discuss development and progress in all these states. We can disagree on specific paths to development, but at least we get to have that conversation.

These achievements did not happen magically. They required a lot of hard work and sacrifice - and all of it happened democratically. Let us not forget that Congress used Article 356 very often to dismiss state governments and now they lecture us on "democratic values".

If we elect the wrong crowd, we risk losing all the gains we have made.

Modi and Shah have provided strong and resolute leadership that has allowed these useless intellectuals to indulge their Modi hatred. Deep down, even they know the truth.

Chidambaram came to Odisha in 2011-12 around. Don’t remember the exact time but it was due to the communal violence case.

We were retuning from school in our bus when it was scorching hot. We were stuck in master canteen for almost 1 hr because his cavalry had to come to the congress office.

I and my friend had exactly counted 17 cars.

And here’s the thing: I have seen his cavalry in Delhi when he was FM. So pls spare us this bullshit
