And I only hope for each and every Mario fan, that you receive the joy and the love and the gratitude that I receive every day. When people say I'm the voice of their childhood or I've touched their hearts, it's such a profound honor.

I would say, live your dreams, follow your heart, love, love, love as much as you can. And remember, life is short. So you need to, all the time, be seeking your joy, seeking your happiness, seeking your love. And the first step is to love yourself. Develop that relationship with yourself of love and joy that you can bring along with you, because you will bring others with you in happiness and joy.

Charles Martinet revealed his approach for voicing Mario:

"Once I got the role and started recording his voice, I began to do more things with Mario, and I cemented the idea that he’s going to be optimistic, loving, respectful and comedic. Mario has a positive impact on children, and I think that’s the essence of his character.

Mario is a hero, but in a way, we’re all heroes. We begin life with such innocence. We have personal battles, difficulties, challenges, and gain new resources as we progress in life. And then you might realize at some point that you’re the hero of your own story. That’s how I’ve always felt about Mario’s character. Being able to bring that joy into children’s and adults' lives has been a tremendous honor."
